Hartford made a new low this winter this morning. 6°. Nothing "cold" yet. In fact Bridgeport 15F low is the 2nd warmest on record.
Look at the temp departure from normal this morning. PM me if your seeing this in the future and want to see what it was like. 10-22 below normal in the south.
Low of 31 F this morning and 29 F yesterday morning. Pretty disappointing considering the forecast was calling for mid 20s. Savannah barely hit freezing.
Also interesting to see that the North Carolina outer banks struggled to drop below 40 F this morning. Warm waters?
Rainy and 50's today. We had some hard rain this morning, very nice! My fireplace is roaring, great day to be working from home. 1.6" this month, 0.65" today so far. Drying trend starts tomorrow, next chance for rain is Sunday. I hope we get a lot.
On the West Coast, Seattle is socked into hard rain for the next 10 days. Low temps in the mid 40's, high temps in the lower 50's. Typical winter weather and I know they need the rain as they were behind last year. Hopefully they can catch up. Tornado warnings there associated with a strong thunderstorm. Unusual for this kind of storm (not the rain but the tornado).
Need some warm weather that way to help the iguanas. Most of the winter has been warm in Florida so fortunately the manatees are doing fine. They tend to gather near Cape Coral's power plant on very cold days when the water temp is brisk. That's where the power plant ejects waste heated water (clean but warm) into the estuary there and is the reason those creatures can survive in Florida.
On my phone. Tough to reply but I'll give it a try.

Most likely waters there. Or was it cloudy/foggy maybe? What has your coldest been there? This winter doesnt have that big cold numbers feel.

7? Is that your coldest? I have same snowpack amount. Losing very little thanks to the glaze of ice on top it.

Thats what I like to see. Fire and winter. Nice we all can have seasons
Here it is... Florida snow 2020. Grapuel Snow Tometo Tomato. ]
Blog regarding this event. Radar showed precip at the time. I checked 5000' temps and they were in low-mid 40s this afternoon with surface in the 50s.
Jack shows the vertical profile from there this morning. There was a deep layer below freezing. But it wasnt snow that fell this afternoon , it was Graupel though and that counts as a "Trace" of snow there.
