Yes, I want someone to produce an actual analog for other years in the past that have seen those very warm anomalies in the western Aleutians and Greenland at the same time. This is not part of a typical La Nina setup at all with the very heavy amounts of precipitation in California right now either.

Anything around and beyond 10 days can be somewhat arbitrary as things can still change between now and then, anyway I hope you get the cold and snow you always dreamt of

Looks like a textbook La Nina to me. Northern and Central California can often see above-average precipitation during moderate La Nina events.

A lot of snow forecast for the days after Christmas. Looks like a repeat of February 2019?

I thought the "textbook" La Nina events are generally at least moderate to strong in intensity? This looks like a weaker event so far, basin wide anomalies are at -0.7C for the Sep/Oct/Nov months.

As a matter of fact, the latest update was just released today! -1.1ºC in the Niño 3.4 domain.

Regardless of whatever La Nina does and regardless of whatever happens in California, major cold on the way for the PNW and BC including the coast. Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, Victoria == icebox.

Interesting info, thanks! I didn't know the ONI covered the 3.4 region by itself.

Savannah stayed in the 40s this afternoon. Expected with all the clouds. Tomorrow should repeat with rain.

I'm becoming increasingly worried about the upcoming PNW cold wave causing further disruptions to supply chains.

As the cold sets in up here, another AR will strike California with some biblical snowfall totals. I think this says 100 inches of snow??? Graphic by CW3E Scripps.
