Yesterday was quite mild. The high here was 55F/13C. Midway reached 54F/12C and ORD 53F/12C

Lots of rain up and down the east coast. Especially Florida

Strongs winds too

Looks like some big changes are coming after New Years. We'll see

“Far” above average, no. Indiana isn’t a subarctic climate and has never been. I know you hate that

The fact of the matter is that temperatures so far in December have been 6-8F above average. That fits under the far above average threshold, especially since newer 30 year sets of averages are warmer now than decades ago.

Bad news is it is over. I did get 2.4" so the most rain in more than 3 months total. Most of the heavy rain came when i was in bed i guess. 35mph winds so nothing here was torn up.

It's still coming down here. I'm on the back side now with north winds. Current temp of 55 F.

Just imagine if there was some actual cold air over the continental US with this setup. Would have been a January 2018 repeat, lol.

Somebody on X is saying of it was colder, this would be like the Storm of the Century. I like how the model allows us to see how the low and the high are combining to make the intense sotrm.

I will bet money it's going to hammer the northeast very soon.

And yes, if it was colder, it would be historic levels of snow.
