This will spoil your day too...that song wasn't about WEST Virginia, it was about Virginia. But it sounded better saying WEST Virginia...and the rest, as they say, is history. I don't think John Denver, just one of the writers, had even been to West Virginia when they wrote that.

No, that only explains why I remember visiting The BlueRidge Mountains as a teen and not W,VA.
I was in Wheeling, W.VA. in 2006.

That seems to me like a good idea. They seem to use a lot more small engines with all the mud runners, boats, weed wackers, and power mowers, etc. It seems like there are lots of opportunities for individuals here. I think it's because it's not "californicated" yet. I think that Pa., NC, NoVa, and Ohio-Ky. function as a sort of filter, to protect WV. But For how long, is anybody's guess.

It's only my opinion, but the air is definitely cleaner is West Virginia . . all anyone has to do is drive over the Eastern Continental Divide to see it.

The word smog comes from smoke and fog which is technically a stratus cloud mixed with pollution. Today, unfortunately, smog is a problem in many of the world's big cities. Like here, the famous 'smog-city' of Los Angeles. You can just make out downtown L.A. through the smog.

L.A. Smog (air quality)2002

N.Y. Smog, (air pollution)
