Canada will have one big advantage moving forward in the future over Australia IMO and that is water resources. Canada has more fresh water resources than any other country by far and that will help it a lot. Australia by contrast is stuck in perpetual droughts and does not have many water resources to begin with. The only way this will not be a major issue for Australia is if there can be a very cheap desalination technology made available for the masses. There are several possibilities on the horizon but nothing yet on a huge scale and at the price Australia truly needs.
The issue with water in the tropical north is the sheer amount of it during the monsoon season. Perhaps over time there will be large cities in the "top end". Closeness to Asia would also be a plus.
They’re still the same exact trains, only shorter. And they’ll pass every 2min30sec at rush hour, every 5 minutes the rest of the day.
They are not the same thing. So don't compare Sydney metro with REM.
Sydney metro has train operating every 4 min in peak hours for the entire line and has more capacity than the REM trains as I said before. The REM frequency that you mention is not for the whole network.
In term of events, Australia has the Grand Slam Australian Open, Melbourne and Sydney hosted great summer olympics games, especially Sydney's were considered one of the greatest olympics ever. Now Queensland is making a bid for the 2032 Olympics. Canada only hosted one summer olympics in Montreal and was a big failure that almost broke the city.

Canada also hosted 2 Winter Olympics that were relatively successful. They aren't as big as the summer games but should not be discounted.
And Canada hosted two Olympic Winter Games: Calgary in 1988, and Vancouver in 2010. Both were successful. Not sure what your point is, in this regard.
Noone cares about the winter olympics. Just a few countries can compete anyway. Only 2 winter games for a country that is in winter temperatures for a long time of the year is nothing.

Both Sydney and Montreal use the Alstom Metropolis trains. And while the Montreal has 3 branches at the north end, 2/3 of the line, from Rive-Sud to Bois-Franc, is actually a main trunk where service will be every 2min30sec (5 min outside of rush hour), so yes, they are comparable.

Exactly. This guy also forgets Montreal has a metro system, and I guarantee he never knew Montreal had communter trains.
