June 19, 2007 (Complaint)

Comments:
Complaint: Smoking around food. Vegetable soup on menu is actually vegetable and beef soup, loose faucets in bathroom and preparing food without gloves. Also smoking and preparing food without washing hands.
Inspection:
- Employees told to smoke by radiator in back of facility away from food prep.
- Employees told to wash hands after smoking.
- Facility policy is that employees wash hands and wear gloves when handling both ready-to-eat and raw foods.
- Management does recall this complaint but has not received any other complaint or similar issues.
- Gloves are not a requirement by the health department, be sure to wash hands between jobs if gloves are used.
- Faucet is loose and will be repaired, water still works.
- Recommend consumer advisory for foods cooked to order. Also ingredients of soup i.e. meats should be on the menu "recommendation."
- Complaint not verified upon inspection.

May 23, 2007 (Routine)

Comments:
Need to have a designated spot somewhere in the facility for employees to store there belongings. Dishmachine may need an alarm, visual or audio indicating when sanitizer is low. Under 12 VAC 5-421-1370 warewashing machines need sanitizer level indicator. Screen on back door in need of repair. If you need to purchase gloves recommend doing so because gloves are moving from a recommendation to a requirement as well as ServSafe Certs. for managers and people in charge. Be sure any food kept longer than 24 hours has common name and a use by or make date somewhere on the item. If dispensers are going to be stored in product, handles need to be stored handle up.
