^^ Yes but what they don't tell you is everything costs more in NV. Car registration, insurance, gas, food, booze, everything. So the little bit of difference in state income tax (which you can take off your Fed tax) is negligible. Did I mention AZ is a constitutional carry state - that means if you want to carry a gun go right ahead, this is the old west, try that in Nevada LOL.

Im really surprised that no one on here is mentioning the meth problem in BHC, and I have to be honest, most of the people here are not nice, they will friend you then all of a sudden its total drama or stealing from you, I have been here 4 years now in Mohave Valley south of BHC and I wish that I had never moved here, my boy played little league here and the board members were stealing the L L blind, lying, cheating, stealing it was disgusting.

I would really think twice about moving anywhere around here, with the way the people are here, I also read all the nice things on these forums, some of its true, all I can say is I have never met so many crappy people all gathered together in one place in all my life as here.

Cheers

I'e been here since last fall and I'm afraid you're right about the general bad attitude here in Bullhead. It got MUCH worse in March IMHO.

Packard Fan - I think (hope) you are just encountering a certain group, there are good, quality people here, they are the ones who own businesses, work in government, and the professionals. You have to seek them out. Avoid the folks with bad attitudes and make sure it's not your attitude bringing out theirs.

People don't get million dollar homes on the river by doing meth!

There is a LOT to do if you get out and do it. We have some major stars play in Laughlin, the bowling alley at the Riverside, a great public pool, brand new library, multiple theatersm the mall (such as it is) at Laughlin. Frequent community events. We have far more than most towns of 40,000 have. And yet we often forget to take advantage of it, and then complain there's nothing to do.

Where else besides Oatman can you pet a wild burro? Where else can you see Indian petroglyphs for free just outside of town and then go jet skiing of fishing, and in less than an hours drive be at a weekend cabin in a pine forest 7,000 feet up on Hualapai Peak? Or drive hour to Vegas? Did you know the reopened Moss Mine has the largest gold reserve in Arizona with over 1.2 million ounces!

WilleCoyote - I'm wondering if maybe you are associating with the wrong people? Maybe you should be a bit more selective of who you make friends with or let into your home. I've never had a friend steal from me.

If the LL management is doing what you say, get some actual proof and take it to the PD or the paper.

The meth problem actually has been hugely reduced. But I agree there are too many zombies. I own apartments, and a business / industrial property. We constantly have problems with petty vandalism and issues, have had to sink thousands into alarms, cameras, floodlights, fences, etc. I am quite vocal about this and believe me the PD does listen.

The BHC PD and SO work continuously to track and remove the bad guys. BHC PD is THE most responsive police department I have ever encountered anywhere. I have yet to meet an officer who hasn't bent over backwards to help honest citizens and to prevent, investigate or stop crime.

If you suspect drugs or crime, please CALL them, they WILL take action. Our overall crime is actually less than most areas. You hear about stuff because the newspaper seemingly prints every traffic stop in the "police blotter." But believe me, they don't want druggies or criminals operating here any more than you do.

In short, get involved, help us clean up the area, help us encourage the low lifers to move to greener pastures - this is a great area, it takes great people to make it better!

Bullhead City and Laughlin are great places for older and retired people to live. If you are young like 18 to 30, there really isn't anything to do besides play on the river. Vegas is far to be going there frequently. A young person would be very bored in both Bullhead City and Laughlin. I am in my early 20s and visit those cities at least once a year with family. Laughlin is a lamer tamer version of Vegas. There are mostly old people there. The musical acts and comedy acts are usually people I have never even heard of that are from decades ago. I like that the Riverside Hotel and Casino has a movie theater, bowling alley, and the "Loser's Lounge" night club. But that all gets old really quick and you soon find yourself wanting something more to do. Bullhead City has grown a lot over the last few years but again there really isn't anything to do.

Since "Bullhead" is one word, it should be "BC" not "BHC", and that pretty well says it all.

The maximum tax rate is 4.54% in Arizona so that would be $4500 on an income of $100K or $100K plus the rate at which the max rate kicks in) so you would need a lot of savings on gas, food, insurance, etc. to make up that difference even after factoring in the deduction you would get on your fed taxes from that. I've also wondered why so many people live on the BHC side rather than Nevada.

So does Nevada have much stricter gun control laws?

I think it must be much more strict zoning on mobile homes.
