I didn't become anything, I have never been very religious.
Now that's a good statement.... I think the majority of the people in the Western World feel the same way.....you do not just " become" anything , when it comes to beliefs. Most religious folk are a result of ethnic/family, background.
Funny, this thread presupposes that everyone starts our religious, and has to "convert" to atheism.
As for me, I was born an atheist (we all are), was introduced to God by my parents, and now reject it the same way I do Santa Claus. The topic really deserves no more convoluted discussion than that.
Don't you think the better question should be: "why did you become a believer" considering we were ALL born atheists?
I shall take your words for true & say :
Do you know why we born atheists ?
Because at that young age we have incomplete brains
If you still experiencing the same situation after puberty then there is something wrong here !!!
At a young age we believe in Fairy Tales.
If you still believe them after puberty then something is also wrong there.
I shall also take your words for true & say :
What is wrong with Fairy Tales
At least it helps you to reach your emotional side , innocent and Purity .

That's fine - so long as we don't tell ourselves and others that they are true.

Your turn.
That's a whole different story ...
Oooooh ... dont make me even start talking about it ...
If we believe it is true & actuly convince the other to believe then that is Magic in the making my friend
Do you know now the benefit of believing in Fairy Tales ?!!
If the creation of a body of equally deluded fanatics like ones'self is to be called a 'benefit', (I'd call it a looney cult) then yes, I can see it. For myself I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
