I don't think it is about breaking records; it is about awareness.

As for statistics, I do think some of these are kicking the can down the street and sometimes reporting parameters change. (Not saying that happened here) There really are not standard reporting for crime stats (across the country) and I hope those are implemented. There is so much variation.
Thanks! I am seriously thinking about getting some type of identity theft protection. That is a growing crime in our city too.

Atlanta murders are down 33% from last year. Only 48 compared to 72 last year lol http://atlantapd.org/Home/ShowDocument?id=1292.

So, can we put to rest that crime is skyrocketing in our city? The reports from APD show it as going down in every category except rape, then note that the definition of rape has changed since last year, causing the numbers to go up.

In some zones, it's up, but citywide, it's down, a lot.

Identity crime is going up nation wide and isn't Atlanta centric. I got Lifelock but I am not sure it is worth it.

Are the shootings up or not? Did they have to die to become statistic to take it in consideration? In 2016 murders increased point blank period. 2017 is still going.btw I explained the term I used wasn't the best as far as skyrocketing Loong time ago. As much as I explained from the beginning the stats goes BEYOND city limits,I'm still having to repeat it smh.

But go search murders and crime in DeKalb county Clayton Gwinnett etc since you was so kind to find the Atlanta stats. A light search on both DeKalb and Clayton show a bunch of recent stuff. When that rapper got killed recently, where did they said he died all over the nation? They were NOT saying DeKalb, they were saying Atlanta!

Also don't come my way talking about you from here and how good you know the city when you don't step out of your car drive 2 seconds nowhere just drive thru bad areas and the "good ones that so you think "they safe" and swear you are safe and do know the areas. I dare you to walk to even some nice areas and give a closer look. And yes I HAVE walked done buses etc both thru the ghetto or completely DESOLATED places and of course so called good areas..boy let me stop. And I'm not from here! And still ventured. And a MAN. Imagine women or the fragile lol.Mind you.

I've noticed many people in Atlanta have huge egos but a high level of insecurity when it comes to the negative aspects of the city. The sidewalk thread went the same way then, the Houston comparison to Atlanta was giving many almost heart attacks over some truths. Yet the whole point of this thread is been about how to make things better. Smh

Sometimes you have to play stupid to see how far the ball rolls. Is been a white glove roast. Lol. Negatives aspects of the city/metro area on the social sense need to be discussed more often..And openly.

Wikipedia:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Atlanta

Consistent with national trends, the murder rate in Atlanta peaked in 1990 and have declined since.[16] From 2000 to 2010, murders in the city declined by nearly 50 percent.[13] The years 2009 and 2012 had the lowest numbers of homicides in Atlanta than any year dating back to 1963,[17] but there has been an increase in murders in the city beginning in 2013.[13] The number of murders in Atlanta was 80 in 2009, 92 in 2010, 88 in 2011, 85 in 2012, 82 in 2013, 93 in 2014, 95 in 2015, and 111 in 2016.[13] A significant number of murders have remained unsolved; as of February 2017, 51 of the 111 homicides from 2016 remain unsolved.[10]
An analysis of FBI Uniform Crime Report data for 2015, conducted by the economic analysis website 24/7 Wall Street, showed a murder rate in Atlanta of about 20.2 per 100,000 people, making it the 18th highest murder rate among U.S. cities.[18] A October 2016 FiveThirtyEight analysis of preliminary 2016 data, taken from official police information and local reports, found that among U.S. cities with populations of over a quarter-million people, Atlanta had the tenth-highest murder rate, at 23.9 per 100,000 residents.[19]
Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard said that 17% of 2014 homicides in the county were gang-related.[20] In Atlanta, guns were involved in 82% of homicide cases.[18] In July 2016, in an attempt to combat an increase in homicide, the city began Operation Whiplash, with additional police officers and other resoures assigned to 33 "challenging and crime-ridden" neighborhoods in the city.[13][21]

Be careful now. You are exposing a side of Atlanta people dont want to hear about....

Yes, I'm serious. Atlanta metro is still not approaching Baltimore levels.

Give it a rest and stop giving yourself away, former poster...
