I'm guessing it's either lumbollo or LovesMountains! Don't say anything that is perceived to be negative about Charlotte and those 2 are ready to attack you! I created a thread several weeks ago that was intended to get input from those that usually bash Charlotte to see what they wanted to see Charlotte improve in, and I listed several things that I wanted to see happen, and low and behold, they wanted to condemn me for what I said in my OP! Look, I like Charlotte, but that doesn't mean that I'm content with the status quo! I want a more cosmopolitan big city and not one that is so family oriented and suburban feeling! I do believe that once Charlotte does finish filling out, it will be a much different city!

I don't get it. Is there a specific reason for this or are the moderators on that forum just touchy?

Charlotte is nice medium size city. BUT PLEASE STOP LYING!!!

That's why I stopped posting over there.. I got to infractions for so called hijacking a thread.. I didn't really saying anything that rude.. But your right they try to keep a good image of Charlotte on the forum. But wait till there season of another 48 hours the truth will be revealed

Common sense would tell everyone that we're talking about metro areas, not the actual city limits only.

Any discussion about grid patterns is irrelevant today, unless you're hoping exurban counties will adopt this development approach.

Why Charlotte is so hell-bent on becoming an international big city is beyond me. Both here and on urbanplanet.org, Charlotte area posters seem obsessed with "urbanity." Over-defending Charlotte goes against the intended purpose.

Atlanta is my home, and it is a big cosmopolitan city blanketed in a wide layer of smog, that's easily visible flying into town.

My only hope is that one day Atlanta and North Georgia will be supported, tended to, and looked out for, with the same level of dedication, intelligence, and resources that North Carolina boasts today .(Excluding Charlotte-who feels neglected by the state).

I'll take anyone on, who can intelligently defend any other state against North Carolina, when it comes to taking care of, looking out for, and planning for the state's future and improved prosperity.

If you must have the last word, singling out one statistic, like Savanahh's port, isn't enough, we aren't in the 6th grade.
NO.This is simply NOT true. You cannot be further from the truth.Any drive through each state as I have done and you can tell a major difference how far North Carolina is from catching up to Georgia in a lot of areas.

I have done this before and have never gotten a reply from other posters. Here we go again:

Savannah is a MAJOR U.S. port. You cannot demiss it any more than you N.O.'s,houstons,or any othe major city port. Not to mention the amount of money the state of Georgia has invested in th last 15 years to make it wider and bigger and still more plans to do so.It came from a very basic port to the big leauges to where now it is the fastest growing in America.

ALL this is what has happen as a result of the constant expansion:

Quote:
Target Corporation Facility: On September 21, 2005, Governor Sonny Perdue announced that Target Corporation has decided to build a two-million-square-foot import warehouse at the Savannah River International Trade Park
Quote:
Heineken USA Facility: Heineken USA will open a distribution center in early 2008 that will handle 4,000 containers a year, moving from breweries in the Netherlands to distributors in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama. The facility will handle 7 million cases of Heineken and Amstel brand beverages every year.
Not to mention Savannah and the rest of the coast is a very BIG tourist area.Especially if the state and city of Savannah effort is succesful to get a port for cruise ships.

Jekyll Island is going through massive renovations
Sites (http://www.jekyllisland.com/Revitalization/Sites.aspx - broken link)

And there is also the Port of Brunswick:

And as far as infrastructure goes,it cant be any clearer how far North Carolina is behind.

So NO i don't think N.C. does any more for the rest of its state than GA.In regards to Charlotte vs Atlanta.Atlanta could use more support but the hate that used to be so true years ago is not there as much today.I see it the Governors attitude also. While not a 360 he has realized like many people that with cities like Savannah can really be a major force to be reckoned with if they continue to form ties and work in tandem.
For example Atlanta got IKEA,due to its success Savannah got its distribution center at its port.

Porshe N.A. Head quarters is in Atlanta and SAAB(up until the sale)as well.Guess where they import there cars from along with BMW,Lan Rover and Jaguar?Port of Brunswick

Uptown Charlotte: 140 Restaurants
50 night spots

Downtown Atlanta: 160 restaurants
35 night spots

But yet Downtown Atlanta completely blows away downtown Charlotte?

Now lets see how Some ATl posters turn this around!
Considering that Uptown is really the only urban center in Charlotte,I dont see how that is something to brag about. Not to mention the fact that number does not tell you how many PEOPLE are in those places at any given day or night!

Downtown ATL has more than JUST restaurants and nightspots!
