Whatever you say my good friend, I don't feel like discussing it further.

Road work is not the only thing happening on 8th street. Their are several new businesses on 8th street between Broad and Greene streets.

1. The Pieces of Sweets Boutique(fashion hangbag boutique and beauty lounge)
2. Studio 222(Art studio-They have Life Drawing Classes on thursday evenings)
3. Chiropratic Express located at 224 8th street
4. IZoom Studio(Recording studio)

On a sidenote, The Booz International Art Gallery opened about a month ago. Located 859 1/2 Broad street. I found the website, their are three other locations in New York, Miami, and Port-au-Prince, Haiti...

The people in Augusta haven't seen the real growth yet. The growth were experiencing is nothing compared to what's coming. This is only a teaspoon of the major changes coming our way. Imagine when the NSA, ADP, Plant Vogtle, Medical District, BottleTek, SRS, FT. Gordon, etc jobs are at their peak levels of employment in 2014-2017.

The groundbreaking for the $40 million 200,000 square feet Tee Center is set for June 16th. The $10 million 400 space parking garage will be built across the street.

Downtown authority picks section of Riverwalk for renovation | The Augusta Chronicle
The DDA set aside $35,000 of special purpose local option sales tax money during its meeting this morning, to be used to renovate an area of the Riverwalk near Eighth Street. The authority last summer embraced the revitalization of the riverside park as one of its priorities, aiming for public-private partnerships to spruce it up.

The area near the fountain on Eighth Street has drainage problems, standing water and overgrown plants. "It has evolved over the last few years into a multi-use area. In the summer, on Sundays evenings, there is a jazz event that has grown. It is now being used as a small amphitheater," Bowling said.

Bowling said the SPLOST money could be used to make repairs, and install permanent electrical service and tier the landscape to better serve the multi-use purpose. The DDA will also spend $30,000 for six new lights near a Broad Street building renovation project(Emporium).

The building being renovated into loft/apartments on 9th street is moving along. Construction crews have made alot of progess in the last couple of weeks. Still no word on the number of residential units. Or if the building will be mix-use... The location is perfect between the new library and judicial center.

Augusta leaders gather for speech and ceremony to begin TEE Center construction | The Augusta Chronicle
Scott Clark, the chief operating officer for R.W. Allen, said the company is looking at late July to demolish nearby buildings. The $30 million Hyatt will be built across the street.

The TEE Center will act as an expansion to the city-owned conference center within Augusta Marriott Hotel & Suites. The main floor will be at street level; the second level will line up with the conference level of the Marriott.

The article has a video that shows(at 1:17) what the Hyatt looks like. The final rendering is 8 stories tall.

I liked the original rendering better... it was brighter (maybe riverplace condominiums is wearing on me?). lol.

Still looks like an impressive structure in central downtown and larger than i expected in terms of street front used. Thumbs up.
