You know, I have nothing against ANY employee in this country. But I am simply not going to throw away several thousand dollars on an American made auto when they have transmission problems, or engines fall out, or engine blocks crack. It's got nothing to do with not liking a particular group or becoming emotional over it. Many foreign cars are made better. That is something american automobiles simply can't match. When they are made better, I will buy them.

American cars just in the last 10-14 years have gotten better. Before that they were crap. But the big 3 played the patriotism angle quite well and still made a ton of money churning out in some cases less than mediocre products. They built crap and a lot of people bought it out of loyalty patriotism and because my daddy bought that brand and the simple fact they will not buy imports. Hey I was the same way. I bought GM because that's what my family bought. Didn't matter if imports at the time were just that much better. I was not buying. So I blindly bought crap. Now that I'm older and smarter I buy what fits my needs and what I like. If it happens to be a domestic brand I'll buy it but I'll buy import also. The thing is that ultimately its my money and I'll spend it however I see fit. If American manufacturers want my hard earned money they need to step up. I buy us made tools, brand name stuff but I have Japanese and German made tools.I have one set of cheap crap junk tools. It stays in the back of my pick up. I Have a ford 3/4 ton wife has a import SUV. If a American made product is as good if better than the import I'll buy American. But if it isn't then I don't. You want my money? Work for it. I do.

My American car was built in Ontario and the engine was hecho en Mexico.

Apart from this conjecture that borders on jingoistic and racist, you have offered exactly zero proof of this actually happening.

You are living proof that "buy American" is a slogan made up by uneducated, crass and narrow-minded people with no job security due to their own incompetence, who rely on fear mongering to sustain their existence. If your intelligence level does not allow you to see that the logical construct "many do so because I know a few who do" is faulty on its face, then I'm not buying anything you make, because chances are, it's not going to get me very far.

There's a Ford plant here in Chicago and the people who run it are just as silly as the OP. There is a parking lot close to the main entrance marked "American Cars Only -- No Foreign Cars" or something to that effect. "Foreign" cars are required to park in some lot way the hell over some place else.

So I guess that means someone who drives a Crown Vic built in Canada can park there. Or if I still had one of my Japanese-built Mitsubishis with a Chrysler or Eagle badge on it, I could park there. But if I try to park my car there that rolled off union-shop Ford assembly line here in the USA, security would chase me out because it has a Mazda badge on the snout instead of a Ford badge.

Idiots.
