That would be the other way around; the back doors(Element, RX-8) must be closed before the front can be.

The rear doors cannot OPEN unless the Fronts are opened first.
The front doors cannot CLOSE unless the rears are closed first.

I've been a car guy all my life and I have never heard of this. Yes. Attach an electric drill and turn it backwards. That was the urban myth back in the day. It appears to be more difficult these days but given how often hackers are stealing millions of customer accounts protected by the best security, I doubt hacking your OBDM II port is that much more difficult.
Nobody's mentioned the "road draft tube". Or the Type 1 thru 4 crankcase ventilation. Or positive ground electrical systems.
