Change has a way of sneaking up on you. I was thinking how many automotive terms that some of us grew up with but the young have no clue what they are.
Carburetor, points, condenser, rotor, distributor, hand brake, shift knob, sealed beam, leaf springs, rear end, sway bar, I-beam suspension, vent window
My stick shift, bias ply swing axle oil bath filtered air cooled manual transmission car goes fast enough that the crotch coolers stop my junk from broiling on the Naugahyde seats while German square weave cushions my feet.
I have no idea what a sealed beam is, but I loved those vent windows. When I was very young, I would giggle when my father talked about the car's rear end.
How about the choke, the foot feed, or the mash down starter? How about "necker knobs" on the steering wheel, or curb feelers? Do any cars have hood ornaments anymore?

Round, I can think of three, one I'm sure is still being made; Jeep Wrangler, one might still be made; Toyota FJ; and one is was discontinued a few years ago Hummer H3. There were a few others not too long ago.
I remember the high-beam switch on the floor, does anyone remember when Chrysler had the washer fluid pump on the floor? Or the horn ring around the edge of the steering wheel, or they put the horn switch on the end of the wiper stalk?
Ah yes the high beam button on the floor. I have a mini bare foot that was used on that button to dress it up that I have in my roadster that I use as a dead pedal.
Something you don't see anymore are the "continental kits" remember the clothe roofs, fender skirts and spare tires on the back.
How about radar detectors and CB radios.
My grandfathers old Buick had small lights mounted on the front fenders facing the driver that would indicate directionals and if the high beams were on.
How about "the HUMP" that is what we used to call it. It was actually the transmission drive shaft tunnel to the rear. Most cars today are front wheel drive so they don't have it.
I do miss those vent windows.
