Timing stalk and throttle stalk. Don't see much of that anymore, even though 19 million cars had them on the column.

Referring to a regular car, is there such a part called a "stump"?
I've been wondering if a neighbor who talked about this made it up. ?
The only thing I know related to Automotive and Stump is a "stump puller" but that is just a description of a gear set/range.

Do we still have hot and cold plugs? It used to cure all sorts of malfunctions.

The intake roar coming from a big 4-bbl carburetor. (Or 2x4-bbl or 3x2-bbl.)

All those terms for a regular car ... in the day when I could change my own oil and do tune-ups on my car. I used to know them but now they're computers and not meant to be worked on by people who used to know what they were doing and by mechanics who used to know what they were doing. Subaru made a change that made sense and put the oil filter where it's reachable, so had I bought one, I'd probably still be doing my own oil changes. We learned this test driving cars last year.

Gad, a carb. Engine's a little sluggish? Open the butterfly valve manually for a bit. These days, the butterfly valve is probably just on a butterfly . A kid would have no clue about this either. Life was really simpler when I was growin' up.

What about cigarette lighters? Do any cars have change holders? Vacuum gauges, with "fuel economy" reading. Speed warnings. How about that (non-OEM) accessory from the 50s, fuzzy dice?
