Why would you not tell the owner of the BMW you hit it?

That's called hit and run.

1. I don't know who the owner is.

2. I wasn't able to find the owner. I waited for probably an hour after school.

3. I'm an idiot.

1. Get the license number

2. Find a cop

3. Tell him what happened

It was just a small paint mark though, no dent. Plus, I wasn't sure what to do when it happened. That's why I came here.

Call a cop out, get some documentation about the state of the car, and if the owner can't be located, leave contact info.

In Texas you would already have committed a violation of the law in leavig the scene without leaving a note with require information.Likely a police report has been already made listing your vehice as left the scene.

I didn't leave the scene, I was pulling in before school started. When I tapped the car, I pulled out of that spot and parked like 3 spots to the left. I then examined the car and didn't see any damage. I didn't want to be late to school as it was, so I had my friend check on it later on, he said it looked okay and then I checked on it again after school. Wouldn't the police have left some sort of ticket or something on my car if they knew about it?

Everyone,

The police will not even come out to private property to take a report. There is no way this person will be charged for hit and run.

Llewelyn,

All you need to do is buy some polishing compound which will cost around $5. Rubbing compound would work too but there is a small possibility it could damage the paint so that is why I would use polishing compound instead. It will remove the paint mark you left behind and that will be the end of it. I have used it before myself to remove paint marks and it works wonders.

I looked at the car again this morning: no paint mark. So the person must've noticed the mark and cleaned it off. Thanks for the help everyone.

If I do notice any paint this afternoon (since it's sometimes hard to notice things in the dark of the morning), I'll definitely look into that polishing compound, good tip las vegas drunk.

I would not touch another's car! If I came out and found someone putting rubbing compound on my car, there would be hell to pay!
In the future...fess up! You hit the car, take some responsibility! You obviously know that, with your comments. You know what your parents would have told you to do? I think you do. If your old enough to drive, your old enough to know what responsibility is.
Had I hit the car...I would have waited and not moved my car. If they still did not return, than a note with your info under the windshield wiper.
