The Astro Killer B's were a play on Killer Bees. Appreciating that you were simply referencing a previous alphabet themed lineup, we should probably attempt to provide the White Sox common lettermen with their own specific identity. There aren't any real life Killer A's of which I am aware.

What leaps to mind first, unfortunately, cannot be used because of its crudity. I mean of course what sounds like "Bucking A's."

Hmmm...this is more difficult than I had supposed. While there are such things as bees, there aren't any "a's", reducing us to sub language choices such as Fonzie's guttural "Aaaaaaa."

Anyone have any ideas here?

Anybody thinking yet about an Orioles/Astros World Series? Both on a 4-game winning streak.

Default Pujols Gets Wally Pipped

After 27 games of futility as an Angel, Albert Pujols was benched today in favor of Mark Trumbo playing first. Trumbo was 2 for 4 with a home run and is hitting
.297/.357/.547 overall.

The Angels won 6-2 after having been shutout in the first two games of their series against Toronto.

As a St. Louis Cardinal, Albert Pujols averaged a home run every 16.7 plate appearances.

Today he hit his first home run as an Angel in his 117th plate appearance for them.

The blast boosted his slash line for 2012 to .196 /.237 /.295

Trumbo was moved to right field, to make room for Pujols, and went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

By the way, is everybody else also getting out-of-synch audo/video on ESPN baseball telecasts? Plenty of R&D on glitzy graphics and clever booth repartee and dugout interviews and beer-guzzling spectators in crazy costumes with signs, but they can't do something as simple as televise the game, and apparently don't care.

Default Amazing 17-inning Weirdness in Beantown Today

Boston Red Sox got swept in a 3-game series at home against the Baltimore Orioles who now lead the AL East at 19-9.

Highlight was a 17-inning marathon on Sunday, 06 May 2012 where BOTH teams ran through their entire bullpen and then used position players for pitchers. It's been since 1925 when BOTH teams in a game had to use position players as pitchers. Weird, eh.

Baltimore DH and First Baseman Chris Davis, who had an O-8 day as a hitter, pitched the final two innings to get the win with his mid-80's fastball.

For a DH to go 0-8 in hitter-friendly Fenway Park seems improbable, but this was a day for all sorts of weirdness.

As a life-long O's fan, early May is about the time I'm usually heard to say "wait till next year." It's a weird year.

Why? What letter did his first name start with last year?
