Human body needs sunshine to synthesize vitamin D.

The average height for a Swedish male is 5'11 1/2" as opposed to a Mexican male who is on average 5'4". Guess which one see more sun?

What's your logic? They are genetically different.
You need to compare Swedish people living in Mexico vs Swedish people living in Sweden, assuming they eat the same food and have the same life style.

And for your interest, Stockholm has 1823 hours of sunshine per year, and Mexico City 2215 hours. Not too much difference.
Boston has 2638 hours, much more than both cities.

What about the fact that it's much hotter year round in Mexico than in Sweden and in Boston? So the menfolk in Mexico will be more likely to be wearing less clothing, even being shirtless and in just shorts more often when they are outside in the sun than in Sweden and Boston. No snow in Mexico, so no need to ever bundle up like we do in Boston and would have to do in Sweden.

I also think that Mexico being closer to the equator, the sunshine is stronger than we get up north.

It is true. Mexico City probably receives more solar energy (my guess).

However, clothes cannot block much UV, only the visible light.
Also, people in some regions hate sunshine (e.g. East Asia) and they avoid the sun as much as possible. Bostonians seem to like the sun as most westerners do.

So the outcome is not clear.

Guys, it's the high protein (more recent) and high dairy diet of Europe...compare to corn mush of the Meso+south-Americans and boiled rice crap of the southern Chinese peasantry (very short) loves to eat. Even with relative affluence, I find the southern Chinese love their "zhuk" or whatever...it's just a runny boiled rice soup with some stuff sprinkled on it, and not much nutrition. If you eat that for most of your childhood, you will be short and scrawny, no matter what genes you have.

This is why, with modernization and a more "protein and dairy rich' diet, the Japanese, then the Korean and now the Chinese are all gaining in height (and weight). Of course, the incidents of heart disease also increases.

Mexico City is not representative for the whole of Mexico. Salina Cruz,Mexico(in Oaxaca) gets 2812 hours of sunshine per year.

I'm Black, I grew up eating a moderate amount of meat. I'm only 5'5". I was always the shortest kid in the class up until the end of 8th grade. I was also among the skinniest. My father is 5'11" and my mother is 5'5".

And by the way, the Chinese eat alot more than just rice. If you really knew anything about the Chinese culture and the diet there besides rice, you might know that.

Some people, like me, just end up being short. I was a short, skinny kid from the start, and I'm short now(albeit, I have a more athletic build thanks to weight lifting).
