Just an impression: I have seen a lot of short (under 5'9" men in Boston area).
I am talking about white men only.

Is it just a misconception? Anyone else noticed that too?

Are these guys in their early twenties, or fifty plus? I'm almost 53, and stand 5' 9", whereas a 13-year old, was embarrassed about my tall height vs. peers.

Now I'd love another inch...seems I've lost an inch over the years, even at this "early age."

I'm western European influence, I'm a female, 5'9", and my male siblings are all over 6'. Boston men come in all sizes.

Maybe the cold winters force tall guys to hunker down as they navigate the wind swept streets of Boston...and so seem shorter? Just a goofy guess to a goofy question00....

I'm not sure this is a very biologically sound observation...

As babies, we go from breast milk straight to Dunkin' Donuts coffee and cigarettes.

It's a misconception. I'm 6 feet and always felt average in Boston. You want short? Try San Antonio. I'm a giant down here.

I lived in the Midwest and people there seem to be taller.
The Midwest has more German and Dutch descendants than the East Coast, which may be a reason.
There are more blond people too (and unfortunately more heavy people).
