Whatever happened to the Wonder Falls project which is part of the Buffalo Billion. It has literally been years since this was announced with great fanfare by Cuomo. Can we add this to the list of silver bullet projects that were supposed to transform Niagara Falls but never got off the ground. Or is there still hope for this. Anybody have any current news ?

Thanks for the reply but the link you posted is for a competing proposal by a Canadian developer for a water park in downtown Niagara Falls. New York State declined to assist this developer because they have their own water park in the works (Wonder Falls) but that project appears to be dead. If instead they had helped the Canadian developer that project would be up and running by know. But in typical Niagara Falls fashion there is now nothing to show for all the ballyhoo and promises from politicians that came with Wonder Falls.
This article is almost a year old and nothing additional. The project was announced on August 2014 and its been almost 5 years. I agree with Jonnno that if the state helped the Canadian developer this project would have been done by now, but in typical NYS politics, nothing gets done. I doubt if a waterpark or any of these other Buffalo Billions projects will make any difference. The Canadian side vs the USA side is like Disneyworld vs Fantasy Island.

Not really surprising, given that the Canadian side is in that country’s most affluent region. With that said, the Canadian side can be different away from Clifton Hill.

What do you mean by different away from Clifton Hill? I would hardly call the region affluent. Toronto GTA is affluent. Niagara on the Lake is affluent. The city of Niagara Falls Canada has basically a tourist oriented economy and is no way affluent. I have spent considerable time in Niagara Falls Canada, I am very familiar with it and I'm afraid I have to disagree with you.

I’m referring to the Golden Horseshoe in general(think of it as their version of our Bos-Wash corridor) and parts of NF ON have seen some decline/aren’t as vibrant as well.

That is very deceiving since Toronto is almost 80 miles away. Calling the area affluent when only Toronto is, is misleading.
So, that isn’t misleading when 21% of your country lives essentially within close proximity to the western shore of Lake Ontario
