No, the nuts are the politicians people from all areas of California elect to represent their own self-interests. They only gather in Sacramento to argue over who's self-interests are more important.

BTW, GoodGuys is likely one of the best Tire/auto-service businesses in the Fresno area. If you live in that area I would recommend them.

I like this idea! What are the District boundaries, and would the District be the District of 3 states?

Perhaps, Sacramento would be a 2nd federal District of the United States?

Jefferson would be much more populous than that. First off, it would include Butte County and Chico is virtually the same size as Redding. Next, it would include the southern counties of Oregon, who would secede to form the new state. Medford would be the population center. Politically, two liberal areas. Chico, with the university, is slightly Blue. Ashland is far left, very Blue. Other than that, most of Jefferson would be pretty Red. Exception would be if the northern coastal counties would be part of Jefferson. If so, then Humboldt County, with liberal Eureka and very liberal Arcata would have an influence. Economically they would do much better than many think. As for Nevada, most residents outside of Clark County likely would be most happy to dump Las Vegas and rid the rest of the state of it, since Las Vegas is one of the most depressed cities in the nation.

Not practical at this point. However, certainly not supported by me until the electoral college is disbanded.

There is currently a water tranfer agreement for San Diego from Imperial County. The farmers get priority and cheap water as it come through there first. Then San Diego gets left overs. It is ironic...but whoever is closer to the water sources wins and people farthur away lose (LA, SD, OC).
I have found this to be quite true. El Centro and especially Brawley are desert towns that are quite green, much more so than San Diego and environs.

How come SoCal doesn't build more reservoirs? There are mountainous areas that get snow for runoff, and LA gets more rain that San Jose (granted, SJ is dry too, and we don't get our water from there), but it would seem that especially in those mudslide flood years we see on TV, they could store up to supplement their water supply.

The District would only cover Sacramento County. Everything east and northeast of Sacramento County would be the foothill or Gold Country state, whatever people want to call it. West of Sacramento (Yolo, Solano, etc would move to Northern California. Vallejo south is considered the Bay Area. Essentially, Sacramento, District of California (DC West) is wrapped around two other states, just like Washington is with Maryland and Virginia. So yes, five states and one district (Sacramento) is my proposal.

They are building reservoirs. Headworks, one near Griffith Park--there are reservoir projects going on all the time. I think Silver Lake just had a big renovation a few years ago. Riverside has its own reservoirs and imports less than 3% of its municipal water. Orange County has one of the largest water recycling plant in the nation, and per capita water use in Los Angeles has dropped 15% since 1970 (according to the Sacrameto Bee, Feb. 17th). Still, L.A./OC, San Diego, and the Bay Area would suffer greatly being cut off. San Francisco has barely started water recycling.

I imagine a Central Valley state will use the vast bulk of its water as it already has been, for corporate agriculture.

I prefer that we would be a true federal district that represents every state west of the Mississippi Rver including the new states of California. Any future supreme court house, and national museums would be built in Sacramento. Future headquarters of various federal depts would be built in and around the new District. We would be the District of Vespucci or the District of America.

Why would you carve Sacramento County out of the Gold Country? Both Sacramento City and the County have strong ties to the Gold Country.
