I was a local for over half a century, a SoCal native. I never pronounced it like that. Neither did any of my relatives in Ventura County. I also lived for decades in San Diego, never heard anyone call it Sandy-Eggo, although I did hear Oceanslime, Hell Cajon, San Mucous and Chula Juana. Also never referred to California as Cali. Ever.

That's LA specific. And it sucks. People in SoCal outside of LA don't do the endless street direction talk. We do refer to THE freeways but its needed since there are so many here.
