Ca Is A Ripoff State
Ca is well known as a total ripoff state. If those girly girls in sacramento incl arnold ziffle have their way its only going to get worse. The high taxes, dmv fees, food, utilities, road congestion, rude people,etc...in ca tells me its time to move to a better state.Im considering colo.Anyone considering or planning to move out of the not so golden state of california ?

I just made a similar post. Yes, I'm thinking about. The areas we are thinking about are:
Denver, CO
Austin, TX
Portland, OR
Raleigh, NC,
Philly Suburbs
Pittsburgh, PA (if we get really desperate).
We plan on taking a few road trips the beginning of next year to investigate.

Portland is one of my favorites, but unfortunately it has fairly high taxes and isn't as cheap as some of the others.
Denver seems nice, we drive through it on our way back to California (wish I never came back!). I haven't looked at the details as far as cost of living goes though.

which philly burbs were you considering?
i have recently taken roadtrips through the more distant ones (40+ mins away north) that no one talks about, although i was born here...most ppl dont know anything about them unless they are from them....they tend to be boring ones, but i figured i'd give them a shot. maybe i can be of help

The next move I'll make is to move back to Germany. I've been to the majority of the states in the US and California is the only place I want to be We grow a lot of our own food, and participate in a co-op, have 5 people living in a house and haven't ever gone over $200 a month for utilities (including water, gas and electric), the road congestion is only bad in the big cities. There are plenty of ways to do well in Ca... if you're willing to look around and try.

Have fun! I left CA shortly after prop 13 passed in 1978. Worst mistake I ever made. I love CA warts and all.

I said that about Pittsburgh, because we have already lived there for 6 years. We want something new, but if we can't think of anything better we could always move back there. It would be a relatively easy move.
I'm not sure which suburbs exactly. We visited the area briefly a couple of times when we were in the state and seemed to like the northern suburbs, but I'm really not sure what was what. If we moved to this area we'd most likely do a temp move to Pittsburgh for a few months (live with others, or temp apartment) while we look at the details of the Philly area.

Prop 13 has contributed to the states problems. Lovely for people that owned before or purchased property soon after it passed though.

Ya know California is a big state. It's not that bad in all parts.
