Haven't you "escaped" yet? If you aren't happy in CA, then why not do something to change your position in life? A lot of us are very happy in CA and would not leave. Nicely said! I'll leave when I'm good and ready... which isn't going to be anytime soon if I have a say in it. I LOVE California and couldn't see myself being happy anywhere else. Everyone can ***** and complain and go on and on about how it's too expensive, people are too stuck up etc etc, but when I drive over the Cuesta grade to work and see how absolutely stunning the green hills are, or when I take my dog for a jog in Montana De Oro and look at how breathtaking the ocean looks, I know I can't ever leave
