In his defense there are only 1% Black People in Orange County (3% Los Alamitos), so he probably didn't know...

There is no place for this kind of ugliness in our society today. Not only should he resign - but he should run away with his tail tucked between his legs.

I'm the furthest thing from a biggot, but I grew up in a redneck kinda town. So I had to laugh when I saw this - thinking about the narrow minded hill billy that put it together. Kinda like Eddie Murphy doing his white guy impressions - don't take insult in it, just poking fun at cultural differences. All races do it.

Wrong yes, but I'm sure even the prez would get a kick out of it and crack at least a little smile. But this mayor should have known that something was up. I can see some white collar professional who overly wrapped up in his own little world of self importance doing this though and not having a clue. For being as smart as some pro's are, they can be an awfully ignorant bunch to the world outside of theirs.

yes, I am with you, I am not a bigot either and yes, I did think it was funny, but in his position what he did was totally out of line..

This is really a weird story. I cannot comprehend why the mayor sent this email, or why he didn't (presumably) have any understanding of the controversy it would cause.

It makes me wonder if he didn't want an excuse to resign, although who would want to go out under a cloud like this.

It just makes no sense. Nobody could be that stupid, but if not, what is the explanation? That's the real story, if anybody discovers what it is.

What a country of woosies and wimps we are becoming! Do people really get thier feelings hurt by a cartoon? But I'm sure a black person forwarding a cartoon about whites and crackers wouldnt have gotten an inch of newspaper space. Oh well. maybe sometime around 2020 whitey will be forgiven for all the "injustices" of the past. Geesh!
