I knew 8 people around Chicago, and half of them were fair weather friends.

If I'd known then what I do now, I'd be in L.A. In any event, I think I'll probably end up moving out there instead. I don't know why some of the people here hate Los Angeles, but I'm not criticizing them nor am I putting down Chicago intentionally. However, I think I've had my fill after this cold winter and the snow.
I'm sure a lot of people here don't hate Los Angeles. It's a great place. It sucks that you're in the situation you happen to have. I wouldn't want to live in a halfway house or work with disadvantaged youth either.

Yep, it's been the warmest and driest winter since 1932.

Interesting that the same government that won't let people work for less than $7.25 an hour in private enterprise requires some of their own employees to do exactly that.

Sorry it's turned out so badly for you, but you lived in a particularly bad situation. As much as I love Chicago, I probably would hate it if I was forced to live an hour outside of the city in a roommate situation with people I have nothing in common with. It's too bad you never got a feel for what it's like to live in the city.

Maybe you'll have better luck in Los Angeles, the climate will be closer to what you're used to. I lived in Seattle and didn't care for it, I tried moving within the city to see if a new neighborhood would help, tried making friends, went to different attractions within Seattle and the surrounding areas. After trying it out, I decided it wasn't for me and moved back to Chicago (weather was a major factor).

If you've given it a try and it's not for you, then maybe try something else. You're young and single and nothing is keeping you here. Good Luck!

Just so you know, I lost the password to my last profile, and the moderators were nice enough to let me use a new one. Anyway, I opted out of the program and was forced to move back to Austin. I do plan on moving away from Austin sometime in the future. Chicago is on my list of places to relocate to, but I can promise you with a capital P I won't live anywhere near Waukegan, Beach Park, or North Chicago again. That whole area was so depressing that it made me want to slit my wrists, sit in a warm bath, and bleed to death.
