How do we rightly divide the Word of God? ..... Well we must first know the true character of the Lord God and his perfect will , that every idea in scripture line up whole to His true character.......We must know the perfect plan that Jesus authored thorough His Father in Heaven and stand fast to it thorough our discerning ideas to be whole to the Lord ..... We must know the character of Holy Spirit as we are called to adopt Holy Spirit character for our selves.... Jesus preached on Holy Spirit and His authority on most of scripture, otherwise he would preach of end times .....Also we must understand the wiles of the devil as in Ephesians 6:10-11..... were we can discern the errors that come from doctrines of men and bring lack of Holy Spirit into our lives, were this dark spirit is not given authority were Jesus will not go unless He is redeeming us of it.....To be whole in Christ with no contradiction can be a challenge .....

Chapter and verse please.
I wish to learn more.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Ephesians 1:13And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
So then it is your opinion that Paul's statement is wrong/not true?
And by the way his statement does not say "in the sight of the Lord", but does say "It is not those who (only) hear the law who are righteous in God's sight,". God is the father of Jesus who is Lord.
Cxjonz, you have to understand what the entire passage is about. Romans chapter 2 shows that the the Jews to whom the law was given were condemned by the law. Gentiles weren't given the law though they can instinctively do the things of the law (Rom 2:14). But they sin and will perish without the law (Rom 2:12).
The word 'only' is not in Romans 2:13.
Romans 2:13 'for not the hearers of the law (the Jews) are just before God, but the doers of the law will be justified. The law was given by Moses to the Jews (John 1:17)
But Romans 2:13 is hypothetical as is Romans 2:7. For no man has perfectly kept the law. The law showed the necessity for Christ to come into the world. To break the law in one point is to break the entire law. Romans 2:14 showed that the Gentiles to whom the law was not given could instinctively do the things of the law (but not perfectly). Everyone sins with or without the law.
Romans 2:17-29 shows that the Jews were condemned by the law.
Paul then goes on to show in Romans chapter 3 that all the world is guilty.
As he continues, Paul shows that justification is through faith and not by works. Again, in Romans 4:3, Paul states that Abraham was justified not by works but was made righteous by faith when he believed God.
The layout of the book of Romans is, the introduction and theme (1:1-17); then that the whole world is guilty before God [in the sight of the Lord] (1:18-3:20); then that justification is though faith in Christ (3:21-5:21); that sanctification is through union with Christ in His death and resurrection (chapters 6-8); the problem of Jewish unbelief (chapters 9-11) the Christian life and service for God's glory (chapter 12:1- 15:13); and then the conclusion which concerns the Christians love (15:14-16:27).
Everything must be studied within its context. The book of Romans shows that justification is through faith alone in Christ alone.

So then it is your opinion that you are right and the apostle Paul is wrong!?

Blessings to you, Verna.
Which is exactly what I was thinking. But it does not answer the position that 'hljc' had posted with his list of 'first' requirements.
Understanding only comes from knowledge, and knowledge is foremost in spiritual growth forest beekeeper...in any kind of growth as far as that goes.
Blessing to you,
Verna.
I thought perhaps a soul calling out to God, asking for help, guidance and mercy; would be 'foremost' in spiritual growth.
We are all sinners to begin with.
