Just an opinion here based on what I know of God..He does not and will not turn His back on any nation, group of people or an individual..As long as a person has breath in them there is a chance for repentance..God does not punish us individually for the sins of our neighbors, countrymen or fathers..In fact I don't believe He punishes us at all ..We have learned that on our own and just blame it on Him.....
There are a lot of other such scriptures. It surprises me that so many chose to ignore these scriptures, and only accept the 'pleasant' ones. True enough, all of these scriptures say that if the nation/people repent and turn back to Him, he will bless them again.
Frankly, I see no indication of this happening in our nation. I pray that it will; and in the not too distant future!
So God has abandoned the U.S. and we are on our way to hell. And yet European countries and Canada and others have been way more secular than us for years and years...and they seem to have been generally doing fine. What gives?
The Bible speaks about the United States in no less then three chapters.
The Bible states that all of our cities will be destroyed by our enemies. And Americas destruction will happen in (one hours) time. It states our cities will burn, and after the attack no one will ever be able to live in our land again, because the land will be fully polluted. Also, the Bible states the surrounding nations will also be destroyed. The Bible states that the people of our land are hard pressed against the Holy God of Israel. Scripture indicates that the end of time will be very near when this event occurs. And this event could only occur after the Jewish people have already returned back to their land of Israel, and are in control of Jerusalem.

I wouldn't worry too much, kdbrich. Thankfully we have a president now who has taken action to begin ending the genocide of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. He has restored transparency and honesty to the White House.
We may have turned ourselves away from God these past 8 years under Bush, but we are coming back. We always do as a nation. That is our resiliency.

Under Obama, America's abortion mills will continue to kill children. Under Bush, for the first time an American president signed into law a bill that would make late term abrotions illegal. Obama was against this, and supported the killing of late term children. A nation that supports a leader that supports the killing of the most innocent will not receive any blessing from God. Obama even voted three times stating that any baby who survives an abortion should not receive any medical care. Your belief that we as a nation are now closer to God because of Obama, is far from the truth.

I'm not aware of any Iraqi "genocide" except what happened under the tyrant that the US removed. But I'm glad you're happy to have transparency and honesty. I suppose that's why he has a tax cheat as his head of the treasury?
