This is so true and yet they are blind to it even though it's clear as daylight in their bibles.
Unbelievable!! This verse in no way says anything about universal salvation and I am so tired of the personal jabs saying that Christians want EVERYONE to suffer. We simply believe the Bible when it says there is a heaven and hell. ETERNAL. We don't twist scriptures to have it say what we want it to say. We are the loving ones who desire everyone to be saved from an eternal hell and that's why we teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I never see UR's spreading the gospel, just their heretical agenda. UR will be the reason more people end up in hell!!!

Sometimes what some do not understand is these that go to the lake of fire want nothing to do with anything God has to offer. Jesus, repentence, salvation, mercy or real love. They care less and will reject God even if a thousand miracles happen in their life and the gospel preached to them all their life. Noah a preacher of righteousness, preached 100 years before the flood. Did it change God's mind then? And the promise of Jesus was just as powerful in the old as in the new. Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Moses, David, Jeremiah, Peter, John, Paul, the list is endless. They are all saved! In the old and the new. The only reason you wanted anything to do with the love of God is because He opened your eyes to it . I was blind but now i see !!!!!!!!!.

I used to view this how you do, but then I realized I was in error. Yes people will go into the lake of fire, but it is for corrective purposes. God will overcome all.
But consider your view for a second. You are saying God's love, full of compassion and mercy, is unable or unwilling to overcome the hardened hearts that want nothing to do with God. Instead these people "prefer" to be tortured forever.
huh? Is that love? Essentially, God's love is "oh well, did my best, guess I'll just let people burn forever, that's what they want anyway!" And do people really want to be tortured forever instead of be in God's love?!?

So true, Ilene. What is it but an expression of hatred to attempt to lull others into a false sense of security about the eternal salvation of their very soul. 'Hey dont worry about believing in Christ right now. If you die that's okay. You'll believe after you die and God will welcome you into heaven.' And how many people are dumb enough to believe that Satanic lie? There are many. But those who promote universal salvation twist it and say that those who warn about eternal condemnation are the ones who are hateful.
There seems to be degrees of punishment in hell and I have to think that these universalists, the ones who aren't saved; believe it or not, some of them might actually have been saved before they veered off course from the truth and therefore they are still saved, but the ones who aren't saved are going to be punished all the more severely in the lake of fire because of their trivializing the necessity of believing in Christ while the opportunity exists.
