I would stop responding if I were you, tmac.

That poster isn't worth responding to.

You counted!? Haha!

Let's just agree that both Philly and Boston have more firsts than San Fran.

Well at least someone at Conde Nast rated Philly ahead of both Boston and SF for shopping - looks like an emphasis on boutiques - at least good press anyway

The Best Shopping Cities in the World - Condé Nast Traveler

And someone at the NY Times thinks its the third best of 52 places to visit this year - maybe some of the old image is starting to wear off

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...ladelphia&_r=1

that would be another first...

Sorry Boston don't mean to rain on the Olympic parade...

To be fair, that Conde Nast article doesn't specify that it's listing the cities in order; no way is NYC 24 of 24. Still, good for Philly.

And SF is a major boutique city. In fact, it still has a couple of its original department stores! And it has a formula retail ban in most commercial corridors such that most upscale and even downscale shopping areas are boutiquey, not chainy.

^^^Don't tell Montclair that...he's always made it seem like SF has the biggest and most luxurious brands, known as a place only behind NYC when it comes to national-based fashion retailers. Seems like that would be the opposite of boutiques (local, small unique retailers).

Sorry but you dont understand hun.

Anonelitist didnt say SF is only about boutiques.

Downtown SF also has:
Barneys New York
Bloomingdale's
Macy's
Macy's Men's Store
Neiman Marcus
Nordstrom
Saks Fifth Avenue
Saks Fifth Avenue Men's Store

^The largest Bloomingdale's outside it's NYC flagship
^The largest Nordstrom outside of it's Seattle flagship
^The 3rd largest Macy's
^The largest Neiman Marcus Store

Not to mention 500+ other retailers including boutiques such as Armani, Chanel, Dior, Louboutin, Prada, Valentino etc.

So yes, as far as DOWNTOWN shopping in the US is concerned, SF is only surpassed by NYC and only rivaled by Chicago.

Unless you can prove otherwise.
