No it's not. Miami and Las Vegas have nothing in common. What are you on?!

The only city imo that is somewhat comparable to Miami is Los Angeles.

But Las Vegas, as tacky as it is, is really unique and there is no other city in the U.S. like it.

since Other is a category, I'd pick Boise. It's surrounded by high altitude desert.

1. Albuquerque (has alot of potential, and some fascinating history)
2. Phoenix (I enjoy all the shopping options, and Mediterranean architecture)
3. Las Vegas (I'm sure LV is more than just the strip)
4. Tucson (never have been there. I figured it would be nice around UofA)
5. El Paso (seems to be the most forgotten large city in the SW.)

The nightlife, parties, glitz & glamour feel, warm weather, what are you smoking? Miami and Vegas have quite a bit in common, even other posters have said so on other threads.

Las Vegas is not glitz and glamour. It's tacky.

Miami is a TROPICAL city on the OCEAN, with a LATINO culture and the Latino ENTERTAINMENT capital of the U.S. if not the world. That is what makes up Miami, and those are things that Vegas has NONE of.

Miami can be pretty tacky too. Sure a lot of Vegas is tacky but a decent amount of it is pretty luxurious if you have the money, same with Miami. I think the cities have some superficial things in common like nightlife, falshiness, glitz and glamour, etc.. but there are a lot more fundamental differences than similarities. But to say they have nothing in common is false imo.

Phoenix, the rest are too small except for maybe Vegas.

Albuquerque could practically be a suburb of Phoenix lol.

The point is not Las Vegas is not the Miami of The desert. In no way shape or form. Plus the glamour and glitz that they each have is on a different level.

As far as the desert cities are concerned it's the closest thing to Miami, which does not say much, but they do have things in common and I think is what other people are getting at. You seem to take this city to city comparison a little too literal here.
