Seriously, if you show pics of NYC, DC, SF, Boston, Chicago, LA and Philly to a random group of foreigners. What cities would they easily be able to recognize?

NYC
DC
SF
Maybe LA & Chicago and definitely not Boston.

I think L.A. is more recognizable than SF, and if the Space Needle is included then Seattle would be too.

Unique and recognizable are not the same thing.

I think the poster was talking about unique skylines, but I agree recognizability does not affect the uniqueness of a city.

Being completely realistic, if you are looking for completely unique city with its own "personality" and overall vibe that sets it apart, only four cities are actually unique.

San Francisco, New York City, LA (Beverly Hills, Hollywood, etc), and just barely Boston.

To a lesson degree, Seattle, New Orleans, and Miami.

And that is IT. Nothing else is even remotely close to unique. Not even Chicago.

Unique skylines? New York...everyone recognizes a Manhattan skyline.
