perhaps you don't like what America has become and wish it was all rural or something, but that IS america to the world.

Again, why doesn't it represent america? I think america's best minds are in most of the cities mentioned so far... (minus vegas)

everything else (rural simple life) can be found in any other country they just speak a diff language w/ a diff religion.
LOL I like how you tried to sneak in Chicago in there

1. NY cuz it's NY
2. DC because its the capital and all the museums, lots of history to learn.
3. Miami: beaches, tropical, Latin/Caribbean culture, nightlife
4. Chicago middle America city
5. LA because its LA. Those are the 5 must sees IMO all offer something different.

This is pretty much what I think. I might sub out Chicago or LA depending on a person's specific taste. (I'd also sub out Miami, if I know they don't care much for the beach/tropical weather). But that's what I default to.

This doesn't mean you can't spend a day in Philly on your trip from New York to DC.

Pretty much my list as well.

I like how you made it a personal option between Washington and Boston. As a Washingtonian, I can definitely say Boston is one of those cities that we should all be proud of to showcase to the world.

I think:

1. NYC
2. LA
3. Chicago
4. SF
5. DC

My only quip with Miami is I feel people either love or hate it and it's not as varied as the cities mentioned above for toursits.
