Everyone knows that Los Angeles is the 2cond City , but will never
be the concensus 2cond City "Because" it's nothing like NYC....so
of the two Cities THAT'S Like New York City San Francisco is more
like NYC Than Chicago Ill......

dude chicago being called the second city has nothing to do with new york....long story short: a long time ago chicago burned down and then was built again and it was called the second city...as in the second chicago...there you have it

That's where the nickname originated...but in modern times it has taken on an additional meaning - as the second city of the U.S. I realize that isn't the historic meaning, but in 100+ years things often change a little bit.

this I know..at one point in time chicago was the 2nd largest in the US and chi is looked at by many as an alternative to nyc.......But in any event la isnt known as the second city....many

I agree..not even close. Boston and SF are great cities but no urban vibe to me compares to 'The Loop' and the incredible maze when you look skyward by the winding Chicago River at Michigan Ave in the heart of town.. I grew up in NYC and someone tell me where I can get that kind of view even in Manhattan?
