How long do you think it'll finally take before Mizzou realises they made the wrong decisions?? Not only is the Big 12 significantly worse than the SEC (not to take anything away from OU or Okie state however), Mizzou is going to lose the Texas recruiting base they have going for it.
The difference in the SEC's top schools is that every school that is not in the dweller list is a team that competes for national titles. Of course programs have bad years. And of course bad programs are good sometimes. But realistically the middle of the pack programs have no shot at a national title in most conferences. When was the last time Boston College, Illinois, UCLA, or Texas Tech had a real shot at a national title?
- Texas Tech was ranked #2 for a while in 2008 and could have easily made the BCS championship game if they didn't lose to OU
- Look at OK-State Right now, they are competing for a National Title... just like they do every year...
Fact is, lots of the "middle of the pack" teams in the Big 12 have really improved and now compete on a regular basis for not only the Big 12 championship-- but also a spot in the national championship
I really doubt being in the SEC will help A&M's recruiting in Texas...
Typically, most of the really great kids in Texas go to Texas or OU first. Once those ones are gone-- the next best go to A&M.
Just because A&M is in the SEC, doesn't mean kids will think "oh boy, now I can play in the SEC instead of playing for OU or Texas." They will still probably head to Texas or OU, and A&M will get what they always get-- sloppy seconds. No change.
The only change I see is A&M getting their ass kicked even more than they normally do every year. Missouri will have an even tougher time I believe though.
People that say that A&M will now get the better of the Texas recruits just because they are in the SEC knows nothing about the recruiting in Texas. Texas kids first off go to programs that win. Second, Texas and OU usually gets first dibs. Texas kids want to play in Texas and if possible, play against Texas if Texas doesn't recruit them. They are not enamored with the SEC-SEC-SEC as they believe.

Plus the aggys don't realize they'll be "letting" the SEC powers into Texas to take recruits away from A&M.
OU & UT will continue to cherrypick the state, and to a lesser extent, OSU.

LOL... thats funny!
Only 3 teams in the Big 12's history have ever had a shot at a title... that does not constitute a middle of the pack.
In 2008 Texas Tech got crushed by Ole Miss in their bowl game... #justsaying

Saying that the Big 12 is significantly worse than the SEC is ridiculous.
With that said, Mizzou is going to get killed in the SEC. The football in the two conferences is different and Mizzou isnt built to compete in the SEC.
Overall, Missouri is the least accomplished athletic program in the Big 12. In over 100 years of competing, MU has 2 national championships in all sports. The last one came in 1965. Since the Big 12 was formed, MU has 6 conference titles in all sports. That is by far the lowest amount of all 12 schools.
MU is going to get eaten for breakfast in the SEC and I love it.

The problem with A&M is really their coach. I don't think he is the one to take them to the next level. He is not quite the recruiter either. They have to get another coach if they want to improve on getting blue chippers. Back in the 80s and part of the 90s, A&M pretty much took it to Texas. When Mack Brown came, it all changed. Mack is a charming/bright guy, thus his recruiting is second to none. Texas has taken most of the best from A&M in terms of recruiting. I still think A&M did the right move by going to SEC. They just need to get rid of Sherman. Not sure which upcoming college coach is still available and out there right now though. However, Mizzou going to the SEC might have not been a good move.
