I wonder if he and/or partners have bought up land and properties under various stealth names so that when the world wakes up to the low prices in Pueblo that he's sitting in the catbird seat holding lots of property to unload in a potential "land rush" to Pueblo

Disney did that in Orlando before DisneyWorld was announced; he bought up massive amounts of land under various names to be sure he could control everything near the new park. Disney was unhappy that he built DisneyLand in Anaheim as a stand-alone park and then every corporation in the country built hotels and eateries all around that place, making money off of Disney's investment in the park. In Florida, Disney control the hotels and eateries anywhere near the park itself and makes money on all aspects of visiting.

Do not be surprised if there has been a lot of recent action in the property business in the Pueblo area.

Ye Mike I think you may be right , I know people who are eyeing Pueblo for development , I work for a lot of engineering development firms . Pueblo is going to start growing especially as the investors buy up south CO springs.

I think this will eventually happen, but a new local downturn in the Springs, etc., would likely delay it by a decade or so - so I guess we'll see!

With everything going on in Pueblo in the past year or so I started calling the 2020s the decade of Pueblo. I think a big reason for this now as we have a mayor form of government that is able to focus the growth where before it was hit or miss. As most people who know me knows Ive been waiting for this my entire life. It should be a fun decade for me.

So Josseppie is your home still increasing in Value ? the only place I know that was cheaper that had similar geography was El Paso, TX . outside of El Paso is Santa Teresa, NM which looks a lot like Pueblo west but the Rio Grand river only has water in it for about 3 months ( June to Sept ) maybe that is why the houses are so inexpensive or the fact that Mexico is only few miles away.,,,,

Not much to post lately but I think this is big news and will have big economic implications on Pueblo in the coming years.

1) While TTCI is moving to the industrial park ENSCO got the contract to run the test site east of town and will expand it. With both companies doing research and development in Pueblo it will be interesting to see the economic impact on the area.

When ENSCO, Inc., was awarded a $571 million contract to provide research and testing at Pueblo's transportation technology center located at 55500 DOT Road earlier this month, the Washington, D.C.-based company agreed to expand the center's purpose beyond railroad research to include all forms of ground transportation.

The contract calls for ENSCO to support the Federal Railroad Administration and the U.S. Department of Transpiration's goal of "establishing the center for rail and ground transportation innovation. ENSCO will expand the use of the facility to support other government and commercial entities to achieve the broader mission of transportation safety, security and innovation," according to a company press release.

"ENSCO's contract provides an opportunity to expand physical testing and training capabilities at the center to all modes of surface transportation, beyond rail," said Michele Pennington, marketing and communications director for ENSCO.

2) TTCI to Start ‘Next Chapter’ at New Pueblo Facility

The Transportation Technology Center, Inc., (TTCI) reported April 27 that it would develop a new engineering and laboratory facility in Pueblo, Colo.

The wholly owned Association of American Railroads (AAR) subsidiary has secured an agreement with the Pueblo Economic Development Corp. (PEDCO), which it said solidifies TTCI’s “commitment to its employees and the Pueblo, Colo., community.”

The new, updated facility “will be designed to meet the evolving needs of the rail industry and TTCI’s diverse customer base,” according to TTCI. It will also “improve competitiveness in the commercial market.”

“We’re laying the cornerstone for the next chapter of TTCI and rail innovation right here in Pueblo,” TTCI President Lisa Stabler said. “This new partnership represents our commitment to serving our rail customers and providing continuity of services long into the future, while maintaining our employees’ quality of life and contributing to this community.”

I hear there will be growth along Wildhorse road north of Pueblo Blvd and hwy 50 maybe between Dunn Road and the railroad tracks.

Also up past Walking Stick.

Also, a new jail, which will probably be along the new road which links Joe Martinez of Pueblo West to about 24th street on Pueblo Blvd.

Also maybe by the old dog track south of Lake and that part of Pueblo blvd.

You gonna get to see any Bronco games this season Joss?

I might finally get my wish to see Pueblo grow!

Also i renewed my season tickets and am told they are hoping for a full stadium. I hope so because I found out last year if I don’t go to the games I’m not interested in the season.

": A newer neighborhood, Pueblo West, is drawing the most attention from out-of-state buyers, and from movers looking to get out of Colorado Springs or bigger cities. Alyssa Loflin, a Pueblo real estate agent, said buyers are so eager to get into Pueblo West, they are submitting offers “way over” asking price on homes and, in some cases, forgoing inspections to close quicker. "

Ok, scratch Pueblo off my retirement meant list...

The relatively flat terrain between Cañon City and Pueblo caught my eye when I was looking at the topographical map of the Front Range. This is a developer's dream, but I'm dumbfounded why Colorado Springs took off!

Colorado DOT really needs to upgrade US-50 to a freeway before it's too late. Has Pueblo thought about annexing Pueblo West? It might be the magic bullet to provide a stable tax and population base for the town to take off.
