mite as well upgrade but its not spectacular. they basically copied gnome-40 and slapped a start button to it.
my xbox game pass is acting sluggish but i suspect it is becuz all the autostart services i shutoff in windows-10 have been defaulted back to on (like windows defender, file indexer, print spooler, ...)
Haven't touched Unix in a very very long time. Not since I worked for the Ohio Lottery.
Used to? Now, it all makes sense!
I liked the stability of Unix which comes from its YES or NO functionality, something either works or doesn't, no gray area like Windows. I had very limited exposure/experience with Unix, tbh, mainly directory navigation to check/run LoneTar backup 19-20 years ago.

Someone actually remembers LoneTar!!!! I never actually used it (We had our own in house utilities and scripts) but remember the ads for it way back when. It stuck in my memory because it was based in a nearby town (Mt Airy MD) The sign with their Cowboy still stands at their old building but has been repurposed for a Dentist and a Salon.

Ha-hah, that is the one! Kinda like a play on the words "Lone Star" or the way it sounds I guess.
I had no idea the company was in Maryland! Naturally, I thought they were in TX. I guess you live/lived nearby, huh?
That was my first IT job working for a company called Cam Data. I was supporting their POS systems using Wyse 50/55 dumb terminals connected to either a Windows NT 4.0 or a SCO 5.0.3 as their server.
You can get around it but yes, the "push" is there and very annoying, indeed.
Yes. Upon log in, ours will still state at least once a week, "OneDrive isn't signed in".....I don't want OneDrive; I have it at work. Or "Microsoft Account Problem"...the "problem" being that you haven't signed up for their account.

You can:
- Disable its startup (Task Manager > Startup), so it doesn't run when Windows starts
- Uninstall it from "Programs and Features" in Control Panel
