And they will get that price too (2k + for a 1br). New Haven isn’t cheap anymore. If it is, you probably don’t want to live in that neighborhood.

I’m a big fan of the new residential colleges and have spent quite a bit of time in them. I’m not an architect so I can’t speak to the author’s criticisms from that point of view but they are wonderful additions to the campus.

He also designed the George W. Bush Presidential Library, the Norman Rockwell Museum and the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. This is the largest project ever built in New Haven and at 2/3 of a billion dollars, the most expensive. What do you think? Jay

There a short section of a separated one on MLK Drive near Orange and Church. Remember New England does not have wide right of ways for its Road like they do out west or down south so it’s hard to place separate bike lane without hurting traffic or sidewalks. Jay

Rumor on the street is it’s almost fully leased. Crown has changed a lot in last 10 years. No more trashy clubs.

In some ways that's too bad.

New Haven was the nightlife scene for my college years. I remember the days there was actually competition for gay bargoers, with CSL & Pulse completing for the dance crowd and Partners/York for the dive scene.

Half those bars are gone now and the rest feel like walking into a hospice.

But college kids aren’t as much into clubs now. Plus clubs like Alchemy and Gotham attracted a bad crowd and violence was an issue on weekend nights, which deterred a lot of people from coming to downtown.

BAR is the only “club” left, but again, that’s a dying scene everywhere. Oh, and Toad’s on Saturday night.

Not sure what you mean by “hospice”.

Can it be? Northland is finally going to tear down Church Street South opposite Union Station? That is great news, if it actually happens and if they actually move forward with their very ambitious plans to redevelop the property. Given that Northland has been sitting on Church Street South for years and their similar history up in Hartford with the old YMCA building overlooking Bushnell Park and the Capitol, I am hesitant to get excited. But we will see. Hopefully having two of the tightest rental markets in the country will prod Northland to do something constructive. Of course that has been the case for a number of years now and they have done nothing. They seemed too interested in overbuilding in Austin, Texas which I guess is "Sexier" than boring New Haven or Hartford. The latest I hear is Austin has a glut of housing and prices are plummeting. The opposite seems to be true here. Lets hope they can see that. Jay

Another parking lot getting developed in downtown. Soon there won’t be many left.
