Although I'm inclined to agree with your sentiment, I can give an answer to your question based on my own personal experience: for a good job. Not saying there aren't good jobs in New England, just that in my particular case, the offers from out-of-town were much sweeter deals (especially considering the huge drop in cost-of-living).

All said and done, I would move back if there were a good opportunity!

Years ago perhaps, the New England region was the best place to live, but not anymore. Compare the New London of the 1950's & 1960's with today...
