The New Britain Herald : New Britain, Conn., and surrounding areas (newbritainherald.com) (New Britain Herald's story)

Am I wrong for hoping that the team gets locked out of their stadium come September 1st? It would be a nice way for the city to say F.U. to Solomon!

HARTFORD — City officials said Monday they received four proposals to develop land north of downtown — a project that would include housing, retail and a 9,000-seat minor league baseball stadium.
The window to submit proposals closed at 3 p.m. Friday.

Officials would not say who had submitted the proposals. The city's development director, Thomas Deller, could not immediately be reached for comment.
"Once we've determined that all the proposals meet the minimum criteria of the [request for proposals], we'll release additional information on the respondents," Deller said in a prepared statement Monday. "We'll then conduct an analysis and work with the city council, with input from the community, to determine what is best for the city and Downtown North."

Curt Cameron, the owner of Bloomfield-based Hooker Brewing Co., said Monday that he submitted one of the proposals. Cameron said he intends to build a 50,000-square-foot brewery, restaurant and beer garden on North Main Street, across from the proposed stadium.
The total cost of his plan is estimated to be $10 million to $15 million. Cameron said he expects that his beers would be among those sold in the ballpark.
The city will next sort through the bids it received, with a goal of selecting by Aug. 18 the plans it will bring to the city council.

"A recommendation could be presented to City Council in early September with a vote later in the month," Deller said in the statement.
On July 2, the city issued a request for proposals, calling for the creation of "a new neighborhood" with a mixed-use development of at least 300 housing units and townhomes, and more than 100,000 gross square feet of ground-floor retail and commercial space — including a supermarket, public open spaces, parking structures and a minor league ballpark.
Hartford administrators have proposed building a 220,000-square-foot stadium to lure the New Britain Rock Cats, the Double A Eastern League affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, to the city. The project would cost up to $60 million, and the city is seeking private partners to help shoulder the cost.
Construction on the ballpark would be completed by April 1, 2016, officials said, in time for that year's season.

The city's request for proposals said finalists would be notified by Aug. 8, with interviews taking place on Aug. 14 and 15.
"We're excited about the redevelopment of Downtown North and the opportunity to utilize this property to its full potential, while strengthening and expanding the vitality of downtown Hartford," Mayor Pedro Segarra said in a prepared statement Monday. "This means more jobs for Hartford, an increase in our taxpayer base, more affordable activities for families and more customers for our local b
