I can't get over how proud I am of my home state of CT. I want to move back ASAP. A tried and true progressive state with progressive people and progressive values. And the population is increasing again.

Be happy you were able to find another job, in any state.

They don't override 3 million voters but if a race is decided by only 25,000 votes like this one, they can be the tiebreaker. (Because a percentage of people in the suburbs voted for Lamont too).

Of course if anyone argues that city voters serving as the tiebreaker is a problem that's its own form of elitism. I remember hearing quite a few people practically calling Malloy's elections not legitimate because, well, you know, it was just people in cities that won the race for him. This attitude sums of Connecticut better than anything else.

I'm especially happy to see that Lamont received 100,000+ more votes than Malloy did in 2014. Lmaooo!

You might want to look up the turnout numbers this election vs past elections. “Those people”... eyeroll.

You’re only thinking about the big 4/5. You’re forgetting the New Britain, Bristol, Manchester, West Haven, East Hartford, etc type cities. Those cities have a large percentage of urban poor who only vote Democrat. Without those cities, the state would be Republican every time. Full stop.

Actually as the 3 main cities lost population vs their peak, the next tier either stayed flat or gained, making Ct a state without the typical big pop drop-off seen in dozens of states.

I don't know I think if we had open primaries that be a start

Have last day voting registration close 5 hours prior to polls closing

Start election day from 4am to 11pm

Have electronic ballots

Allow anyone who meets the required number of petitions to be on the ballot participate in any debates for the position they are running for

The first thing that CT should do is have open primaries. Dems won't want to change the rule though because it indirectly benefits them if our registered Republicans keep nominating the weirdest and most unprepared candidate out there. All we needed was an enthusiastic, moderate Republican.
