I thought that too...but it looks like NWS backed off this morning. At least for today, we might not see any rain in the Tri-State area. Maybe higher amounts middle of week, but does not look like it today and part of Tue. Not sure about points north, however?

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service New York NY
733 AM EDT Mon Apr 1 2024

.SYNOPSIS...
Low pressure passes to the south this morning and early afternoon.
High pressure briefly takes hold late afternoon-evening before
another low approaches and passes tonight into Tuesday. The
front remains south of Long Island with lows continuing to move
along it for Tuesday night. A stronger low developing along it
approaches on Wednesday and eventually moves south of Long
Island Wednesday night. The low moves northeast to just east of
Long Island by early Thursday and will move into the Gulf of
Maine Thursday into early Friday. The low will gradually makes
its way to the Northwestern Atlantic going into the weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Forecast mainly on track with just minor adjustments made to
POPs for rain today.

April begins on an active note, with a stalled boundary draped over
the Mid-Atlantic and a wave of low pressure tracking along it
and to our south this morning.

A band of warm air advection and frontogenetic forcing approaches
the area this morning. However, the latest CAMs suppress the axis of
highest forcing to our south along with the rain and center of low
pressure. We`ll likely see rain in NE NJ, NYC metro and LI for a
brief period on this morning as the northern edge of precipitation
skirts our area. Rainfall totals will be less than 0.1" with heavy
rain looking unlikely in our area an more likely to our south. Any
lingering rain will clear in the early afternoon

Differs considerably from NWS BOX then:

Wednesday and Thursday

Latest suite of deterministic and ensemble forecast guidance continues to support the development of a robust low-pressure system that is forecast to bring potentially significant impacts to southern New England Wednesday into Thursday.

Storm ejects from the Rockies travels to Ohio Valley where it stops and heads backwards, then a new storm forms along the Appalacians, and comes up our way.

Sub 985mb storm off the coast. Big but not Tropical so shouldn't feel big. My knees will probably hurt and it will feel like WINTER

Did not see that. I would think that looks reasonable by mid week.

This pattern of sun on the weekends ...then rain during the week, is fine by me. They are forecasting sunny at 60 F by this sat/sun so viewing the eclipse might still be in the cards.

Still what a perfect weekend for Easter. NWS Bridgeport hit 63 F...the warmest Easter in a while.

Was a bit shocked today temps got deep into the 50's F.

In fact at the 3 pm obs, both Chester and Bradley were 57 F and sunny. This time of year as soon as sun comes out, temps respond quick. Bradley was 3 F above normal today - lol:

Despite the big headlines, looks like NWS might have overplayed the rain. looks like there was no rain at all yesterday across most of the area.

NWS Bridgeport reported just a trace T...and NWS Bradley 0.

A round up of yesterdays highs, NWS Bradley (59 F) beat NWS Bridgeport (51 F) by 8 F this time.

In the short term...looks like rain/showers move in later today. Still not looking that heavy until later today. Wed and Thur should see the bulk of the rain with temps in the mid 40's F, thenNWS seems to have spend up the end timing of the rain this morning, so clearing by late Thursday, with partly sunny skies and temps near 50 F.

Looking out to early next week, no real weather drama it appears. It looks like the first real Bermuda High of the season builds in off North Carolina. So expect SW winds, mostly sunny skies, and a shot at 70's F into the Tri-State area Tue - Thur( if the forecast holds?):
