If you really find it so difficult to imagine how anyone could keep their sexual attraction and their desire to care for an older child separate, then...

It's so nice to see so many people who make sense in this thread. The OP, in my opinion, is just sad.

The assumption that gay men only think about sex and not parenting or nurturing brings to mind those old-time decrees to "hide your womenfolk!" if a black man was around.

Sometimes I wonder if people on this board are paid to make such unbelievably wrong posts like this just to get a conversation started.

And your point is???

I get what others think you are getting at...you say "that a line seems to have blurred between adopting a child in need AND seeing an attaractive young man". Just exactly what are you implying? {try other words to describe your comment if not} If not what we are reading/thinking? Is what we are reading/thinking wrong? PLEASE SET US STRAIGHT then {no pun intended}.

I'll SAY it for everybody:

It sounds to me, and to others, that you think they only adopted him because he was "CUTE" or "attractive" {TO YOU}. AND that you think they wanted him for nefarious reasons. AS in Molesting him? After all, they are gay and he is cute, so they MUST want to molest him, right? Those darned "blurred lines" after all, right???

SO, does every straight couple who adopt a pretty girl or handsome boy have blurred lines and alterior motives, too? Do they {one parent or both if one if bi} want to molest that child? Or put that pretty girl on the street corner to sell herself ? Or the adoptive father molesting the girl and impregnating her? Because that happens too, you know-in real life.

Some natrual parents lock kids in closets without sanitation or food and chain them to the walls. Whooo Boy.There's an ugly one. And THEY didn't even have to adopt!

Should gay men ONLY adopt "ugly boys" your way then? Who says he's Cute? YOU DO. They may think he's ugly and "soooooo Not their type"....forget the age issue.
Or, OH, NO, here comes THAT ugly issue, too: "gay men shouldn't adopt BOYS at ALL"? Lest they corrupt them? SHould gay men only be able to adopt Ugly girls then? CAn't do much harm then? no Blurred lines, right?

What about the gay men who married a woman and had sons naturally , then divorced and got together with a "more suitable{male} partner"...should they be banned from seeing their HANDSOME sons ever again?

PARDON me, but it could really just be two gay men with open hearts with lots of "ordinary love" to give wanting to provide a home to any boy-regardless of looks-...without EVER having the thought of molesting him or "recruiting him" for wild sex parties at the boy's expense!!!!!

GIVE ME A BREAK.

Of course, YOU felt like talking about it, but why do I think WE will be talking about it while you look to see who backs up YOUR TWISTED THOUGHTS! I don't think you are batting so good, my dear.

GIVE ME DOUBLE BREAK.

Maybe people like you {judgemental} shouldn't be allowed to have children either.

OH, wait ! I forgot! MAYBE you {OP} ARE right! WHY? GEE you MIGHT have a point:

I know a fellow, a divorced gay man with children {natural} of his own who has now married his new gay partner and who legally adopted his old partner's ADULT son {OVer age 18}, a promise he made to the passing partner.

The judge sat at the bench and at LENGTH interviewed the prospective adoptive son on:
Had the fellow ever approached him about sex?
had they EVER had sexual relations?
HAD the fellow ever see the adopted boy-adult naked?
Had they ever shared a bed together?
Was there ever a time the boy felt the fellow had alterior motives in adopting him {other than the promise to dearly departed former partner {adopted boy's real father}}

The boy-adult in quesiton asked WHY the judge was asking SUCH questions, he was disgusted, there was NO hanky-panky, he just wanted to be adopted by the fellow as his family was either dead or left him....
The judge responded he "had to make sure this was not a case to cover up some illicit affair between the two"...
The adopted boy-adult said: I met him as an adult, so NO, It would not have possible, and NO, nothing like that has ever happened, PERIOD!!!

The same questions were asked of the potential adoptive father. It literally turned his stomach and made him physically sick the questions the judge was repeating to him!

The Judge granted the adoption {should have been easy the parties were all adults}, satisfied it was a simple adult case, and the fellow and adopted now 30-something year old "son" are "very happily ever after"!

BUT, OP: I am sure the case you mentioned in opening went through the SAME RED TAPE in court. BEFORE adoption was granted!

Today's segment was presented as any other segment, but this was a remarkably untraditional arrangement, I observed two gay men happily married, very nice home, blushingly introduce their new 16-year-old son, much taller than them, and very attractive.

I'm fairly confident that this will be a healthy parent/child arrangement but it seems a line between selecting a child in need of a home and selecting an attractive young man was blurred a bit.

The boy was relieved and down to earth and emotionally mature as he described his feelings of finally being adopted into a stable, permanent home.
OP, why are you checking out and commenting on the size and attractiveness of an underage boy? I am glad he now has two parents to look after him and protect him from potential predators.

If a heterosexual couple wanted to adopt a beautiful teenage girl, people would wonder about that too. Most people seeking to adopt are looking for babies or young children.

This couple probably knew the boy they chose to adopt beforehand.
If they, or anybody else, went to an orphanage and said, "We want to adopt a teenager," I think the orphanage would wonder why.

Wouldn't be the first time.

It sounds like you think homosexuals are incapable of this, or the attraction to young boys does not exist with them. You need look further than advocacy groups like NAMLBA who push for acceptance and relaxed age of consent laws.
They are considered perverts, similar to the way homosexuals were not all that long ago. One wonders if they too will start to be more accepted in X amount of years from now.

Um...maybe because they're least likely to be adopted? Why not give an older child a family, and a chance at a better life?
