Those you trust the most can do the most damage. We, the trusted, know this. Honor keeps almost all of us trustworthy.

But when one of the trusted loses his sense of honor, we read heartbreaking stories like this one. A family, a department, a community - all crushed by his lost honor.

Maybe he was murdered by his fellow cops. How can he have been stealing money for 7 years and not one person in the department know about it

Gliniewicz forged signatures on requisitions for federal equipment,

Fox Lake cop stole from youth program, shot himself: officials

It doesn't say how long the Village was investigating but seems they knew funds vanished.

He dishonored the badge, his comrades, his family and the community.

Just thinking about the memorial how the community felt he died a hero, wonder how they feel now?

The embezzlement was from the Youth Explorers group, it seems to be Village money, not the PD departments.

Sadly, you were one of the tools this criminal loser was manipulating.

Fox Lake officer's death to be ruled suicide: law enforcement sources - Lake County News-Sun

His crimes were exposed and he knew he was trapped - so he decided to take the gutless coward's way out. Undoubtedly, he also knew that by making his death look like a murder, he'd be celebrated as a hero. And I'll bet it brought a smirk to his face when he imagined people just like you using his death to point fingers at BlackLivesMatter. The idea that police are somehow under seige is as much BS as was this criminal loser's 'suicide'.

He played people like you for a fool. And you bought it, hook line and sinker.

Something tells me that this guy won't dare come back to this thread after being thoroughly embarrassed.

When we as a society detach from the murder of someone we charge to protect us I have fear for our future

This will be an intense investigation... these men will be caught

Sometimes I wish for the simple justice of historical western law
Looks like he really fooled you.

Think of all the money and time that was wasted during this fake manhunt for the shooters.

doubt that many of us saw this coming, tho I think the investigators were on to him from the start, saw one of the earlier statements that they said right off the bat that they were investigating this as both a possible homicide or a suicide.

I agree. What made a suicide option seem strange was the fact he was shot in the torso. He had no guarantee one shot would kill him. Aren't most suicide shots to the head?

I'm not casting any doubt, it just seems a no-guarantee, and painful way to attempt suicide.
