Like it or not, the words are relevant. Extremely relevant in this case. Sorry you don't like it.

Well we are under no obligation to have a coherent discussion, and if we don't use the proper word choice we are certainly not going to have that so what's the point?

The men were not bounty hunters. They were unregulated citizens attempting to arrest a fugitive against all good sense and legal justification. A bigger issue than their methods or the outcome.

People can comment with any words or phrases they choose. 'Sorry' you don't like it.

Just saw this thread. The title of the thread leads me to believe that we are talking about bounty hunters. That is misleading because they were not bounty hunters. Misleading words can have serious consequences.

Well I don't know who Marion Hedgepath is, but as I noted something like this would only happen if these guys lacked the firearms training and acumen commensurate with being professional bounty hunters, which it turns out these guys weren't.

Firearms training isn't required for the license in Texas & the license doesn't allow you to carry - if you have a concealed weapons permit you can carry a firearm, but the required training is the same as anyone else with a concealed permit.

In short, bondsmen aren't firearms ninjas. Bounty hunters might be cops - which would give them a *lower* hit-rate under fire than your average granny with cataracts & a concealed permit - based on the outcome here, that could be the problem.

I didn't say anything about what is required or not.

Good riddance to bad rubbish all around.

They were also not licensed bounty hunters but commissioned security guards. So they broke numerous laws here. Not wearing uniforms (security guards must wear uniforms at all times) and announcing they were federal agents (a big no no).
The "Bounty hunters" were so unqualified they were criminals.

Most "bounty hunters" are professional Surety Agents and perform a much needed service without cost to the taxpayers.
Police are over worked and too overburdened to deal with such matters. As far as I am concerned, any criminal taken off the streets by anyone is a positive thing.

However it would seem as if these two guys were not using common sense and endangered others unnecessarily.
Still I would not put them on the same level as the wanted scumbag criminal who they were trying to apprehend.
