Yes, we are lucky and blessed that this wasn't worse than it is. I lost a few pieces of furniture I didn't like anyway and a few decorations plus the carpet and tons of Sheetrock and maybe a partial roof. All in all it's going to be an inconvenience more than anything. We went in and threw away a ton of stuff that was damaged. Will be fun to see what insurance values some of it. I just don't feel like dealing with any of it right now. The cedar is KILLING me this year!! I think I have coughed up about a dozen lungs by now and this will go thru mud Feb. Sigh....And I hate having strangers in my house, especially where I can't see them!!
TFW, I think I do remember when you had your last foot surgery. Wasn't it becasue you doped a case of dog food on it? I hate surgery, seems to take me forever to recover.
Camper, when you're up to discussing it, I'm interested in how your attic fan caught fire.
Thirty years ago one of my dogs woke me up and alerted me to something going on in my attic in the middle of the night. He kept looking up at the ceiling vent and growling slightly. I could smell only the slightest scent of smoke so I turned off the heat and called the Fire Dept right away. They came out and told me that the unit had locked up (or something like that -- it was so many years ago I cant recall) and was starting to smoke and could have caught fire had not my dog woke me up and alerted me to the smell.
Ever since then I've been petrified of a fire in the attic. I have my heat/a-c checked out every year but I still worry.
I did not ignore your question, just forgot about it...
I really don't know. The fire marshal came out and look at it and said let the insurance adjuster look at it. We turned it over to State Farm. I'll let you know what I hear back from them.
Thanks, Flamingo. That's my hope for everyone here too. I had probably the worst Christmas ever in 72 years but at least it's over and next year will be much better.
Come on youse guys. Don't give me any trouble. I'm referring to the other side of Christmas which is New Year.
Okay, I knew it was odd.
Just teasing ya kiddo. <3
