Just a quick note to tell you that my daughters just now made it to Seattle safe and sound. The younger one drove straight through and got there in just under 50 hours, which is pretty much what she had planned. She went through some snow/ice storms, slowing them down, and the truck, being brand new, got only 9-10 miles per gallon so they had to stop for gas frequently.

Her flight back to Houston leaves in 4 hours so she timed it perfectly. Whew!

Thanks for the prayers and positive vibes -- and, Ketabcha, thanks for the comforting prediction.

I'm glad they made it safely. I'm sure they are both happy to stretch their legs after 50 hours of sitting.

My younger daughter then spent 4 hours on the plane from Seattle to Houston. She said she was SO ready to get home and go to sleep.

I've mentioned that, as part of my ongoing rehab from the stroke, I play certain online word and matching-photo games.

I tried online puzzles some time back but didnt find them too interesting. However, I recently read about a puzzle site that has really lovely pictures and also allows you to select the number of pieces you want to play. If anyone's interested, here's the link:

Ketabcha, I know you like Mahjong Safari. I used to enjoy it too but a couple of months ago the creators changed the look of the characters. They're now very difficult (for me, anyway) to distinguish and, as a result, I dont play that game any longer. Have you found the same problem?

I have not played Safari in a long time, TFW. I play Garden now. Most of my playing time it taken up with the NYT crosswords, though. I subscribed to it and have access to over 20 years of puzzles. It takes me a little over an hour to complete one. Sometimes much longer. Sometimes I'm completely stumped. There are a lot of puns in those crosswords. I love puns. Both my parents played The Times crosswords for many years. I guess I inherited my love of them from my folks.

I used to enjoy crossword puzzles too, Ketabcha, and, like you, inherites my love of them from my parents. But, since my stroke, I "lose" words frequently enough that crossword puzzles are too frustrating for me.

Arghhh...I think I've got the flu. I got a flu shot at Walgreen's in August but I know it may not cover all strains of the flu. I have a headache, aching all over, especially arms, legs and chest, freezing although temp in the house is 72, thermometer says 101.7. Maybe the flu shot will protect me from getting too sick. At least I dont have to go anywhere this week.
