Two recent dining experiences to mention:

1) Mercantile at Union Station. Horribly noisy! Definitely not a good place for a romantic dinner. My husband had duck, and he loved it. I had gnocchi, and I was disappointed with the portion size. I'm not a huge eater, but it was ridiculously small. Service was very good. The wine selection was decent. It was nice enough, but I don't know that I'll go back.

2) Snooze in Highlands Ranch. Weekday morning, so it wasn't terribly busy. Great service. I had the Lower East Sider (lox) and loved it. Will definitely go again.

Kachina in Westminister. Will not be back. Went Sunday around 11:15 and it took 30 mins to get two chicken taquitos which were so fried that when you bit into them the chicken went flying out. Half of my chicken ended up on the floor. Then 30 mins later, we got my two tacos, rice and beans and his country fried stead. I didn't eat the rice and beans because they were gross. It definitely wasn't worth waiting an hour for!! A lot of tables around us were asking where their food was. We actually left and I had to get food somewhere else because I was still hungry

It's not far from Sky Ridge Hospital, so it's probably in Lone Tree. Sorry for the confusion.

For breakfast and lunch, there is a great little place in Castle Pines called Miyo Café. I highly recommend this place. The food is really good and it is mom and pop owned. Be sure to check their hours before you visit. They aren't open for dinner.

Solitaire - where Highlands Garden Cafe used to be - good to very good food overall, arrogant snobby pretensious waiter, relatively small portions - making it somewhat pricy if you are an overeater...

Stoic and Genuine - Union Station Downtown - Excellent food, great service, VERY pricy

Is Gyros, on East Colfax near Broadway and near, East High School still there? Coming to Denver, soon, on "Bustang," (can hardly wait!!) Always loved the breakfasts and Greek food, on the north side of Colfax?

Made it to Sassafras at Colfax and Logan. Was planning to go to Lucille's, but after looking at their menu and seeing what constituted a po'boy in their eyes, changed my mind on trying that place right now.

Sassafras was good. Have a nice upstairs waiting area that we used to pass the time playing Jenga and trivia cards they had set out while sipping on some bloody mary's. We tried shrimp and roast beef po'boys with a cup of gumbo after being seated. Pretty good. Not exactly traditional, but really close. Good enough where we'll be back. The bread pudding we had for desert was unlike any other I've tried, but it was very tasty. Ambience of the place is definitely New Orleans themed with fleur di leis all over and jazz music playing. Found out the owner is from Georgia though, so hence the slight difference in the grub, but would still recommend for a good brunch/lunch.

Rosenbergs Bagels & Delicatessan. Legit. Best everything bagel I've ever had. Interesting menu options. Very tasty.

Mercantile Dining & Provision for lunch. Stellar. Really enjoyed our lunch (short rib sandwiches with a gruyere fondue sauce. Delicious. Tried some truffles after. Service was unique, and a bit disorganized, but the quality of our meal made it easy to overlook.

Cho 77. Been really looking forward to trying this new place. Didn't quite live up to expectations, but we went with just one small plate and bowls of ramen for everyone. Not bad, but want to go back and try the rest of the menu. The small plate dumplings that we tried were very good. Wok meals looked and smelled good.

Sweet Action Ice Cream. Found out about this place after seeing it was rated one of the top 33 ice cream shops in America by thrillist I think it was. Just a couple blocks back up Broadway from Cho77. Loved it. Great and unique ice cream flavors, and some super cool open bar style seating that faces broadway. I went with the honey cornbread ice cream which was delicious.

Trying The Kitchen tonight, and heading to Lucille's Creole cafe shortly for brunch.
If you liked Sweet Action, you really need to try Little Man in the Highlands. The ice cream is insanely good. I love Sweet Action, and I always take new visitors to the city to the Hornet and then to Sweet Action on their first night here. It's always a hit. But Little Man is a couple steps beyond. VERY creamy ice cream and they have a little more fun with the flavors I think.
