No dear. It's the People's Republic of China.

The economy had been poor under Carter, and had started to boom late in Reagan's first term. People were tired of a decade of 'stagflation' and believed that Reagan was better on economics. GDP growth was 4.6% in 1983, and 7.2% in 1984. It was a time of tremendous entrepeneurship.

I believe a large part of that was due to the Baby Boomers getting older, and thus into their more productive years. The first baby boomers turned 38 in 1984, and the youngest were 20 in 1984. This meant a much more productive work force than we had in the 1970's under Carter.

There is many reasons but the primary one is he spoke well and people believed in him. He inspired the nation as a whole.

China is an enemy as well. That's why the Trumps had their clothing lines manufactured there.

Reagan came very close to winning all 50 states, since "Fritz" Mondale only won Minnesota by 3,761 votes. Mondale's 13 electoral votes was the second lowest ever, with the 8 electoral votes received by Alf Landon in 1936 the lowest.

I think the biggest reason Reagan won such a landslide was the economy. In March, 1980, inflation was running at a staggering 14.8%, by March 1984 it was 4.8%. In January 1979 oil was $14.85 a barrel, by April 1980 it was $39.50, by November 1984 it was back down to $27. After the severe 1981-82 recession, GDP grew over 7% in 1984, and unemployment was down 3.5%.

Mondale was also hampered by his connection to Jimmy Carter and the failures as well as the "malaise" of his administration, not to mention the fact that he had the charisma of a brick.

He conned them. Just like he conned the republicans when he said he was a conservative.

Apples and oranges. There are several clothing manufacturers in America. Trump chose to manufacture in China.
