Laura, definitely not the prettiest woman at least had humility and grace.

Michelle has a large ego that matches only Barack's.....Michelle lacks any sort of grace or polite manners.....Michelle has no humility. Michelle is simply like some wilderbeast plowing through a fine china shop. Tacky, cheap, crass and ugly. Sad that a great nation now has a first lady not even fit for a third world country.

You said it best!

This thread, with its laser-like focus on standards of female beauty, seems terribly sexist. Why are women's looks more worthy of comment and scrutiny than men's? That's all I've gotten out of this discussion.

Considering the way Hillary was treated in the campaign and Obama's sweetie remarks, seems to me Obama blessed sexism????

Okay, just for you, we can change tenses: She WILL BE his albatross.

Michelle needs lots of "tweaking" to become a gracious First Lady, she can keep her strength and strong mindedness, but she really does need lessons in how to become socially acceptable. And understand she is under tutelage at this time.

Oh well. Millions of us will be proud and happy to have Michelle as a first lady. I guess there always have to be a few sore losers who feel the need to be nasty. Small sacrifice...a few soreheads in exchange for the happiness the rest of us feel.

Michelle is an ivy league educated woman, who has accomplished more in her life than you could ever imagine. She is gracious, thoughful and considerate and the only people who are complaining about her are those who are so filled with hate that they are hardly worth her time or consideration. Sorry, but you could not hold a candle to the future First Lady.

Not sure Michelle is capable of being socially acceptable. Too much hate, anger and resentment inside her.

I have met and spoken with the woman. She was courteous to me and all the other people at the campaign events. She also semed to be very smart and not the least bit shy about letting people know what she was thinking. That is refreshing in a First Lady.

Ya, when Michelle was growing up and getting to where she is she didn't have time for classes "how to properly pour a cup of tea" , "how to defer to males no matter what", how to be "lady-like"(meek, quiet, mindless)...not like Laura and Babs, who had nothing else to do so learned and learned well!
